got a Foxtrot Mike 9mm upper front charger im going to convert to RDB. Need to add a relief for the cam pin but there not alot of metal there. Is there something im missing that the head of the cam pin actually needs to be there? Can it be shaven off some or even flush to the carrier? Any tips other than having a welder weld some material there before? EDIT: Looking at Anphibians build using FM upper, i guess there is enough room for the pin so ill just have to be careful |
| You REALLY do not want to do that......it is like putting a bcg in a DI upper with no firing pin.....the head of the cam pin guides the carrier in the charging handle slot.....it can cause a significant lock of of the bcg. There are lots of nice slick side billet uppers you can use.....that have a cam pin slot..... |

i did it no problem and had no issues with it cycling. but i already abandoned that project. it would not eject rounds correctly. would only get 1-2 shots off before it would fail to eject and jam. deiced to go ahead and do the CMMG fixed ejector retrofit kit since i still needed a RDB BCG. planned on modifying the fixed ejector reciever to use the FM front charge handle handguard but it would not work. the fixed ejector carrier key is proprietary and would not work with the front charge handle. so its gonna stay regular rear charging, at least for now. |
