Small update as follows: - Added LOP numbers for the LMT Crane stock - Added additional max LOP numbers for Vltor stocks with 6 position buffer tubes - Added additional max LOP numbers for M-4 style stocks with 5 and 6 position buffer tubes. |

Well, I just added my ACE M4 SOCOM... Nice stock. Like has been said before: A) It is SOLID, there is now way that damn thing is gonna budge... I didn't use any LocTite as i wanted to see how she would hold up and to be honest, i don't think it needs it. B) This thing was much easier to install than I had anticipated, I think almost easier than an A2 fixed stock. C) Looks awesome... C'mon, it has a MEAT TENDERIZER on it! I would highly recommend. |

Okay, a question from a total newbie. I just got a new A2 Upper from Del-Ton this week, and while the Oly lower I have is okay, I'm thinking a collapsible might be worth looking into. But I've bought five guns this month, and I'm kinda tapped out right now. Then the mailman brings me a CDNN catalog, which shows 4 and six position collapsibles at anywhere from 30 to 75 bucks. I don't recall the brand names, but I wondered if anyone has any experience with the cheapies. I want to try one just to see how it feels, and don't need to piss a bunch of money away on an experiment. Any thoughts on the CDNN stuff? I've ordered from them before, and haven't gotten anything that wasn't worth what it cost me. Should I try one? Papajohn |

papajohn, unless someone has actually bought and tried the CDNN stocks, you're going to be own your own. You should try doing a search here to see what you can find on the subject. However, I'd bet you could pickup a used RRA or Bushmaster collapsible stock in the Equipment Exchange for $50 or so. Heck you can get new CAR and M4 stocks from Bravo Company for $42.99 and $65.99 respectively. They are a site sponsor and have a great reputation. Bear in mind that buying a "cheapie" wil not give you a true idea of a collapsible stock since "cheapies" are usually rattle-traps. Or, in other words, the stock fits loosely on the buffer tube so it rattles around. Most quality collapsible stock may have a little play in them but it won't be that bad. The very best collapsible stocks will have no rattle at all and feel as solid as a fixed stock. |

I bought a CMT mil-spec car kit from giff@amendmentarms good price ,prompt service. 1. I like the old style look of the car stock 2. The smaller size of the car stock is more comfortable for me when firing 3. The price vs the other custom stocks This reply is my opinion only and in no way denounces anyone's choice of stocks or any other piece of equipment.It simply boils down to what i like . |

| I wish I hadn't just picked up an RRA new style stock a few months ago. I was able to handle a carbine yesterday at a gun show with a Crane stock. Damn, if that's not perfect, I don't know what is. Very solid feel and a great cheek weld. |

As many of you know, Magpul is about to come out with their next-gen stock which, I believe is called the M93B. Their site is mum about it, but they are offering an upgrade for $75 plus the old stock. Does anybody know how this stock will be different from the M93A2? |
I just have two pics up right now and this is one of the first 40 we built for a test. Production versions will have nicer texture and some other very minor changes.   Main changes in the 93B from the M93A2 are 1. Buffer Tube color same as body (replacement tubes are all "B" versions so you can still choose your color if replacing just the tube) Buffer is also textured slightly on top 2. Smoother sides, rail at top back removed and smoothed out, rail part at base of body removed and smoothed. 3. Leaver to Cam lock surfaces beefed up. 4. Tail section remodeled to mount by opposing ALU reinforcing plates also web is thinner and whole unit is cleaner looks wise. 5. Reinforcing plates have the ability to mount a QD plate either side for Uncle Mikes of Knights type sling. Sling swivel not included During the redesign we made a lot of places lighter to compensate for the added weight of the extra reinforcment plate. The end result is the M93B almost the same as the M93A2. |

So, the QD plate is included, but not the QD swivel? So, if one already has QDs on a sling the stock is ready to go? |

No, but the Magpul MIAD Grip Kit does... and if you are wearing pants when you're shooting then you have mad battery storage from the waist down.  ETA: You could also get one of these, put it opposite of the ejection port, and load it up with spare batteries, bulbs, hard-candies, tampons, etc.

What does this statement mean? I was under the impression that I could take my Postban Bushmaster pinned M4 stock off and replace it with a collapsable. Correct me if I'm wrong please before I go and buy a collapsable for it. Thanks! |

| I installed an original style Colt M4 collapsable on a co-workers AWB neutered Colt M4, and the stock felt like crap; very wobbly and loose feeling. My issue M4 in Hawaii didnt have that issue at all, but the stock I installed on this AR was a factory part direct from Colt and it sucked. |

I want to say thanks to all you guys that offered such great pictures. I was on the board a month ago and learned that Sarco had colt manufactured M4 stocks with all parts needed for 125 bucks. I purchased two of them from Sarco and they are just great. I have one installed on my bushy M4 carbine flattop. I have colt oversized hand guards and an attached muzzle break ... which tells you that I built the rifle a few years ago... I love the quality of the fit and that the metal work matches the bushy very well. My daughter { 11} will learn to shoot this carbine with a red dot and the stock pretty much all the way in. The look is awesome and the parts are top notch... Thanks Also FYI... I found a nice weaver rail add on scope mount that screwed on to the removeable carry handle. I can still use the metal sights, and the quality of the rail / handle add on is excellent. It is available at brownells for 21.95 plus shipping. It is made by American Spirit Arms... scottzdale AZ... 1-888-486-5487 . The brownells number is 100-000-981 and they are in stock .. mine came in the mail today. Again thanks for the great stock info. |

I have a spare 2-position stock (metal tube, non metal stock), that I've had for years, and I can't remember what it came off of. It has no markings that I can find, and I was wondering if this could be a Colt stock, since that is the only type of rifle I've had. Do all Colt stocks have some type of ID markings? I hope this is the right place to ask this question. Thanks, Vic |

Check near the latch on the stock, and look for an "N", I think I have seen some with this marking that are colt. |
If its a Colt then its probably off a Sporter II Carbine. I prefer the older style M4 stocks over any of the newer ones. I just can't get over the looks of any of the new aftermarket stocks. Gotta love the classic look... |
What did you acquire, and what do you think after using it? I chose two types. initially the Rock River M4 type than the CMT M4 type. Mostly beacuse of getting a quality item for a low price. I used the CMT units on the Colt MT6400's to replace the fixed telestock. I figure the Rock River are ok, as, if I replace them will probably replace the whole assembly anyway. |

Just got back today from the range and the Fiberlite From Bravo Company Works great ! Solid Feel No Rattle PERIOD and no ping Sounds at all! For 42 bucks you cant go wrong! Im glad I didnt buy the one that cost 99.99 with money saved I can buy ammo! So Thanks Paul @ Bravo Company for your service and for answering all my Emails and the money saved! |

i don;t like magpul buttplate.because it;s too wide and bulky for my shoulder.. i like my old M4 stock with buttbad better.. but i am not going back to m4 stock...also..in my opinion m4 stock looks just better then magpul.... magpul is too hightech |

I just bought a LMT Crane stock thanks in a large part to this thread, thanks again. I first just liked the looks of it but the initial sticker shock held me back.... I should've bought it sooner. Why? Because it gives a very solid cheekweld, no rattles or clanks when you shoulder the rifle, the angle of the cheekpiece fits better more like a bolt rifle stock, and it has limited storage, even though you have to remove it to get the waterproof tubes out. I have it on my Colt flat top 16" HBAR with a scope, it fits this gun perfectly. I also have a CMT M4 stock on my Bushmaster lightweight, I feel it fits better on here than the crane would because this is my KISS carbine and extreme accuracy is not needed nor expected, the cheekweld is adequate for irons or a red dot and it works well enough with a scope, of course the crane weighs about 6 oz. more and just doesn't fit on a lightweight gun. I did do the hair dryer trick on my M4 stock and it tightened it up, no rattles here but even so it doesn't compare to the crane if you use a scope. |
OK - I just threw down on a Magpul 93B from GTS (Thanks Denny!!!!) I have been slowly putting together a M4orgery for the last year on a pre-ban DPMS lower (yes its cast  - I am behind enemy lines )The look of the 93B intrigued me along with what information I gleaned from the board on its function so I decided to splurge Assembly of the stock onto the lower is not quite as easy as others I have used - there is the matter of shims but it is pretty straight forward once you get that dialed in I am really impressed with A. How solid and B. How quiet this stock is! one minor bitch - with the stock fully extended - you have that open area to the rear - any problem with debris getting in there  Also - that part doesn't make a very good cheekweld if your using some long eye relief Does Magpul make a rubber slip on butt pad I'll post pic's tomorrow

A firearm is a tool and its appearance has no bearing on how it performs. Function should always take priority over form. To think otherwise is foolhardy.
