I made a clone of a 601. I painted a black stock set with Moeller Green. Looks pretty good, but paint comes off easily. Thinking of doing a Brownells brown set and using a Tamiya paint. Anyone have any suggestions on the paint to use? Seems like the Tamiya spray paints are TS-5 and Ts-28 are close to darker colored original green furniture than Moeller. Any recommendations for me as to which one to use? Also what is a good clear top coat to use? Something easy to apply and durable. Thanks.. |

I'll advocate again for sherwin williams, I got really great results using exterior house paint and having them color match it based off some real furniture I had on hand. Between the two rifles in the photo, only one of them has one part that's repainted. Guess which one  BTW, I wouldn't use a clear coat/top coat. The originals were a single stage, paint on top of bakelite (fiberite) furniture  Here's the paint code for reference.

I sprayed the shiny plastic and it dried to a dull finish. I followed with a top coat of Kubota orange. It's been 4 years without any paint coming off. I guess it's a solvent primer. |

Is that correct? I am amazed by how even you got it. Any tips? Also, did you paint over black plastic handguards or did you prime it first? |
