Colt 6920 No Roll Marks (Page 1 of 3)

Hey everyone,
I am new on the forum. I just bought a brand new 2013 Colt LE 6920 and the lower receiver has no model designation or roll mark. The left side of the receiver does not say M4, M4 Carbine, M4A1, or anything. The only thing on the left side of the mag well is a serial # and Colt logo. This is really bizarre I called my dealer and they are going to send it back to Colt. I am not talking about the Law Enforcement Only stamp, but the model stamp. Has anyone seen this before? Thanks, Conrad |

I'm not up to speed on all the new laws in restrictive states. Is there any new law that would have caused Colt to change the model designation/rollmark so that the rifle could continue to be sold in certain states? Like, way back in the late 80's, when Colt changed from "AR-15" to "Sporter" designation to get around California's new law? |

| Keep it. Factory screw up's are pretty neat and down the road some jackass will pay big bucks for it if you decide to sell it. |
Have you donated to your local volunteer fire department lately?

If you want to have a gun to depend your life on, don't buy factory seconds.

As long as it has serial number, manufacture stamp (Colt, Hartford Ct), how can it not be legal? |

Yea, I think that has to be marked with the town and state, caliber, and company name, right? But... uh... yea, keep that thing. Someone questions it, just write on it with a silver sharpie, "Model: Pew! Cal: Pew Pew! Pewtown, USA!" |

Model numbers are required to engraved or stamped by the ATF. But that is a failure on colts part not a problem on yours. I would guess that no one would consider you in possession of something illegal, it isn't as if you are the one who removed it.
We use model numbers like 6920, but that is really something separate and different than what is reported to the ATF. They get whatever is marked, like m4 carbine, sporter, sporter lightweight etc. |

I could be wrong because I am not our ATF compliancy officer but I think you need MFG, Location of MFG, Model, Serial, and Caliber Generally the same information that is required for the A&D book as well as the 4473 |

I think the OP is only talking about the "M4/M4A1" logo and caliber missing from the side of the magwell. Colt normally puts its' manufacturing info (Colt Defense, Hartford, Conn, USA) above the trigger area. And the caliber should be on the barrel. If this is so, he should be GTG, no. |

All the important pertinent info is there. It's a real good find. Keep it or auction it off a Colt collector somewhere will gladly pay you for it. |
