Depends on how tight the barrel nut is and the roll pins on the fsb lol. Did this exact thing on a cheap upper and had a hell of a time getting both off. Barrel nut tight as shit and fsb pins took a fooking beating to get out. Other than that, its a simple job. Just pick out a rail and gas block. |

They're taper pins, and a Brownell's Bench Block is incredibly useful as well as a bigger hammer. If it's a dissipator it should already have a cut down front sight base at the carbine or mid-length position. Right? Isn't that exactly what makes it a dissipator? (edit: Evidently some of them have rifle-length gas systems. That's a pretty critical distinction.) |

I’ve never seen one with a low-profile gas block but I’ve never seen one in person. The ones I recall were A2 FSBs chopped. I guess if you want a 15” hand guard you won’t much see the pin holes, but I wouldn’t bother with any of this. So if wanting an M4 style it’s never going to work. I can’t believe this is a lead story on the email and nobody has anything much to say. |
