| Tippman hit pretty close to the mark with theirs. I've seen them run pretty flawlessly at Appleseed events - 400-500 rounds in a weekend. |

cmmg bolt, RTB barrel. Any upper handguard combo. Any milspec lower with Larue MBT2. Romeo 5 optic. Blackdog mags Not much to it. Mine rarely malfunctions. eta. I did not see that this was a FRT question. my bad. With that said, I am going to get. a bore buddy kit to try and make my 8" AR22 work so heres to hoping. |

I got my son a S&W M&P-15/22 for his 10th birthday. He loves that thing. It has been generally reliable; like 99%. We've had it out for maybe be 5 range trips since April; each trip burning down 300-500 rounds. Federal Auto Match is my go-to because it works in everything (for me). We've also used CCI Mini Mag, CCI Stinger, Remington Golden Bullet, and some Federal bulk pack (blue box, 36gr HP). It really only choked 3 or 4 times in the Federal, which was at least 10 years old and I found it in the back of my safe. Any semi-auto .22 can be finicky or ammo sensitive (for me, the Taurus TX22 seems to be the exception to the rule) so I am not concerned. I just clean it after each range trip. My daughter was a HK416 .22 clone and it's heavier, more expensive (if buying new) and a little more 'odd' to disassemble/reassemble but is equally reliable. Still, my vote goes to the M&P-15/22. |

You do not want to start with AM22 when you're building/testing an AR-22 with a FRT. AM22 is the hard-primer of the rimfire world, and will make tuning/troubleshooting very difficult. It's also 40 gr, which is harder to get working. Start with CCI Mini Mag 36 gr. If that's not available, maybe some Remington Golden Bullet or Ranch Hand 36 gr (slightly cheaper/more available, almost just as good in my experience). Maybe grab a box or two of 32 gr Stingers/Stangers or 33 gr Yellow Jackets for testing with extra back-pressure as a diagnostic tool. Once you have something working well, then you can move to the 40 gr stuff (also grab different loads, like CCI subs, Rem Ranch Hand/Golden Bullets, Velocitors). Only after making sure those worked would I move to AM22 as a robustness test, but I wouldn't go out of my way if I didn't already own some. Avoid Winchester. My experience with it is that it's all show, no go. I have a something I finally got doing mag dumps of lots of different ammo, including AM22 (after lots of tuning), but it still can't work more than 2-3 rounds of anything Winchester (super, sub, X, whatever). If Winchester is on the box, it hates it. |

| I'm assuming you posted this in the ROF thread because you want to install an FRT or super safety. Anything that isn't CMMG style like CMMG itself, RTB, or Borebuddy will not work. Tippmann, M&P, and nearly all other brands are incompatible. They do not share the same bolt design and use parts only specific to their brand. |

22lr is a beast for active reset builds. Bore buddy supplies the bits to get them running. They also offer complete uppers with options to kit them to run with various active reset solutions. Bore Buddy Uppers So, IMO, the best bet is to choose one of your lowers that is already active resetting and add a bore buddy upper kitted for the running active reset used in the lower you selected. Truth: this isn't foolproof and folks report that support from bore buddy is slow. Even given the truth, it remains the most likely path to success when starting from ground zero. |
