Mine didn't even take hand pressure from holding it...never made it to firing. I think it is a weak, poor design. I went back several times tightening it down slightly more so it wouldn't just twist right off, but then the helicoil holding in the allen bolts just finally failed entirely. I sent it back to Troy and they are replacing it. And to answer your next question, I had the 13.8" version and cut down my original gas block sight base with a dremel...very easy to do. roy d...now just waiting for my MRF replacement in the mail |

I milled down the original gas block to clear rail. Have around 350 rounds through it with no problems. |

Here's my DPMS LR 308 Oracle, at least that's how it started out. Added PRS stock, new buffer tube, new rifle buffer, MAID grip, Apex free float handguard, BABC muzzel brake/comp, Timney 4lb trigger, and Vortex Viper HS 5-15 X 44 scope. Had it out last week and put 60 trouble free rounds thru it.

My DPMS Oracle with a 16in Rainier arms S/S barrel. Troy FF quad rail. Magpull ACS. On a mil-spec buffer tube. Great little rifle. Like the P-Mags. They make a big diffrence. 
My bushmaster ORC carbine. Basicly a DPMS rebranded.

finally have my LR-308 right where i want it.
10 rounds sub MOA, most of those in a half inch. load i'm using is 46.0 VARGET, nosler 155 palma bullet, CCI 250, WIN brass... this load gives me 3000 FPS with the 24" barrel. just had it threaded for QD flashhider and then coated by rainier arms. -RRA 2 stage trigger -STR stock -AD mount -leupold MK4 target YHM QD suppressor troy handguard MOE grip

Here's my DPMS toy
Recon Mil spec stock extension Magpul single point sling plate Magpul stock Houge Grip JP adjustable gas block JP Low Mass Carrier Slash Heavy buffer, and springs Geissele SS3G Apex Hand guard Trijicon TA11C Had a PS30 brake on it. Too damn loud. Has a Smith Vortex on it now, besides it doesn't kick!! Can bounce pop cans around the yard at 100 yds all day long Hasn't seen anything down the pipe, but Mil Surplus ammo. Fun toy

Just finished this. DPMS upper and lower, Fulton(probably DPMS) bolt, Hart barrel, JP forend, LaRue mount, Super Sniper 20X. Still need to add Geisele trigger.
This was my last one. DPMS Oracle with Troy TRX forend and Magpul Sights.

New this past Thursday. Dpms oracle .308 added some magpul stuff. Waiting for a midwest industries quadrail to come in still. My first .308 rifle I've owned looking foward to getting out to shoot it soon.

This rifle is meant to be as light as possible for hunting big game! It handles and shoots very well!
With cut down mag for hunting. In AZ we have no mag limits but I just prefer a shorter mag while hunting. 
With standard "Lets Rock" mag. I do carry a 20 rd mag when hunting in southern AZ.

 Started out a a DPMS Classic 20" barrel. Geissele trigger is the only thing you can't see. This will be a new hunting rifle. I would like to get a Troy 13.8 at some point, along with a BCM Gunfighter charging handle, a Tango Down grip (to match all of my AR15s), and will be slinging it. |

This started out as a DPMS LR 308 Oracle. I have added PRS stock, Maid grip, Timney 4lb trigger, Enedine hydraulic buffer, Apex Gator Grip free float handguards, JP Bennie Cooley muzzle brake, Harris bipod, Burris PEPR scope mount,and Vortex HS Viper 5-15X44 scope. Very accurate with factory ammo, especially 168 gr Amax and 168 gr Tap FPD. It's just a range gun as I'm not able to hunt anymore, weights 12.5 lbs. without a loaded mag. Not too bad considering my fathers sporterized VZ 24 Mauser weights 9.5 lbs with no scope, bipod, or ammo!
The best Amax group measures .655" center to center and the best Tap group measures .625" center to center. The limiting factor here is ME not the gun. The rifle can do these groups or better all day long with a good trigger man!

i installed the sights myself and sighted them in. does it matter that the sights are closer together then most others that i have seen on this forum??? |

it could just be an optical delusion, but i don't think the rail height matches the gas block height on that set up. don't know if you shot it yet but you won't be able to adjust if far enough down.
