Started with a couple of stripped DPMS lowers I got at a gun show...and when I was done building them this is what I got in the end. I hope my fellow DPMS fans approve. My wife said with all the tools and everything that I just had to buy, It would have just been cheaper to buy them new. I told her wheres the fun in that.        |
So does the upper gun or "weapons platform" weigh more or less than a Browning M2 .50?...with tripod. Funny is fun................ |
 Began life as a LR-308 Tac20. I added / modified ... Collapsing buttstock Flip up sights Rail panels RB Precision red dot Had Adco turn the barrel down to a lighterweight profile. Barrel shortened to 18" Accuracy is great. Its still a 10.5 lb rifle (down from 14) |

Well I finally got this thing to the point where I want to show off some pics. I got a factory LR-308, 24" Fluted, last Christmas. I have been adding stuff here and there to it. That BIG, FAT barrel really dominated the image though. Well I just swapped the big, heavy 24" barrel for a slim and trim 18" Noveske 10P barrel. I might get a cooler handguard when I get around to it. Here are some rifles residing in my house, including an Olympic Plinker that some one pimped, a Vector Arms V91, an L1A1, and my DPMS/AP4. http://forums.gunforums.com/forums/fbbuploads/1185399684-four_tacticals.jpg The AP4 now has a Mueller Tactical 4-26x50 Scope with Mildot lighted reticle and parallax adjustable front lens. I have very little rifle experience; in my 30 years in the military (4 Navy and 26 Coast Guard) I qualified with the 1911A1 and shot marksman with the M16 once and Expert with the Riot Shotgun. With CBP I carry a GLOCK 17 and shoot expert with it and a number of handguns for off-duty carry. We shoot a best possible score of 150; I have shot that with a ParaOrd Stealth Warthog (3" barrel .45 acp) and a 2" barreled Taurus hammerless .38 special 5 shot. I am learning rifle marksmanship, with and without scope; I have an H&R M12 .22 target rifle in addition to several M1 Garands. So far I am making progress with the rifles. Scopes are a "new concept" to me and with the AP4 and Mueller I am learning about it. Last outing I mounted the scope and was able to start putting them in the 10 ring at 100 yards. Longer then 200 yards (at my range) you need to shut down one road - so 300 yard shooting only happens once in a while... |

i just got this. traded a s&w 1911 and $500 for it. hope i came out good. i got it and 7 mags, the flip up sights and its never been fired. the mags were all still sealed in the plastic. picture suck but took it with my phone. i plan on loosing the flip ups for a leupold scope. the lr 308 makes a great companion for my dpms classic 20 incher wich looks all plain and stuff. the lr has the free float and all that. what kind of ammo are you guys using in your .308's? also looking for suggestions on wich particular scope to get. also plan on getting an ace ltd. fixed stock. love the look and feel of those. also looking for an ar in 7.62x39. i have butt loads of stuff to trade if any one is interested. jw http://webpages.charter.net/boogie68ss/0808071925.jpg |

every one see the flip up sights on mine? DON'T BUY THEM!!! $225 and they have no highth adjustment other than screwing the front sight in and out. plus the rear sight gives a fuzzy outline. have to push it way forward to get clear sight picture. i now have a scope on mine. jw |
Not to say you are wrong but you are supposed to have a fuzzy looking rear sight apature. The front sight post should be crisp and the target should be somewhat out of focus. The human eye can not focus with that ammount of depth to get it al in focus reguardless of the sight used. ETA: I wouldnt buy that sight either for what its worth. |

Rifle: DPMS LR 308 26" Fluted HB Teflon Coated A3 "upgrade" RRA match trigger Scope: Leupold 4.5-14x40x30mm w butler flips Other: Magpul PRS stock, Magpul MIAD grip, Harris 9-13" notch/swivel,Badger Ord Charging handle . Load it likes: Sierra 165 HP, 45.5 Varget, FLRM, OAL: 2.790 (can use horn 165 sp as well) .

Ditto! I have the same LR , I was thinking of a clamp on muzzle break (ide rather not cut ther barrel) and a HD bipod I mounted a Leaper 5x16-56mm tactical scope on it with high 30mm Accushot rings. I was thinking also of a higher end adjustable stock .. |

Thanks for teaching me how to shoot. Been at it for 18 years and now that makes it all clear... or fuzzy.No I meant the sights are not the best bang for the buck. Many other better flip up sights. The rear is too narrow and gives an oval or egg look and just doesn't pick up for me. |

I had to post another pic. This is my son Thomas with his first deer. He took it with a handloaded 165gr Ballistic Tip at about 2700fps. The Rifle is a DPMS LR308 with a 20" barrel SWS freefloat rail and Leupold Mk4 6.5-20x in a LaRue SPR mount. The stock is of course a Magpul PRS with accushot monopod. Funny thing is that even with all the goodies he took the shot offhand and scored a heart shot. His very first buck outweighs the one I took by 52lbs hanging weight.

I want to play here as well. Here is my traditional AR look of DMPS Panther LR-308 with other goodies, plus the results at 100 yards (1st carry handle on, 2nd carry handle off). It feels better without the handle. If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor. I think fast, I talk fast and I need you guys to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please... with sugar on top. Clean the f'ing car!
The brake works great. The best thing about it is that it's not even very loud like most brakes. There just not much recoil w/out it, so I really don't need it. The Vortex is quite a bit shorter as well. |
