Just curious because the descriptions are slightly different (velocity, muzzle energy but it could be the vendor) and so is the price per round.
I have a few cans of the MOD 1-C and wondering if the black and red box (D556N9) is the same thing. |

Cost I expect, as the this new Hornady offering is apparently cheaper than the SMK.
Midsouth is selling a no-name 77 grain called the Classic Match 22 Caliber 224 Diameter 77 Grain Boat Tail Hollow Point With Cannelure Item # HMK22477 for 28 cents a bullet for a 250 count. I suspect these are the new Hornady 77 grain offerings, as HMK22477 is the give away. Midsouth sells the cannelured 77 grain SMK's for 38 cents a bullet (if you buy 500), and the cannelured 77 grain Nosler for 44 cents a bullet (if you buy 250). The Hornady thing is a separate issue than the SKU's you are asking about.
Its just the packaging. A 460rd case in brown boxes vs 50rd commercial boxes. Mil vs Commercial packaging imo. That SKU existed before any of this Hornady stuff. |

The only question I have is that I would like to buy a box of fifty rounds for Coyotes and similar size vermin. Is it worth the expense in my Colt AR15A4 with a 1 in 7 twist. Is it worth trying in my rifle zeroing in and all?

To be blunt, ( and no offense intended ) you won't know if your barrel likes it, unless you try some. So in true Ar15.com fashion... buy a box. I have had numerous barrels love it... and a few "only" do "quite well". |
