Would you dimple the barrel if the gas block is already pinned? I got a BA barrel that has a pinned gas block but it also has 2 set screws and I'm trying to figure out why I'd bother dimpling the barrel rather than just using a drop of Rocksett on each screw and tightening them down? It's not like the gas block has the ability to come loose when it's pinned. |

The only reason I'd bother dimpling a barrel after pinning the gas block would be if the set screws were long enough that without the dimples they protrude from the gas block. It'd not give any significant strength benefit, but imo would make the work look nicer without the need to grind on visible parts. If the screws are flush or below already, torque them down and call it a day. |

| I've a got a lot of ba and other barrels that offer the same gas block setup as ba and have never dimpled any of them. Never an issue with any of them. As posted pretty much above, use set screws to line up gas block, punch in roll pin, tighten screws one more time, and forget about all of it. |
