That Colt dissy is awesome! They took a heavy 1/9 twist barrel and tapered down the diameter so you get .625 at the journal. So the exposed part of the barrel looks like a pencil profile barrel. BTW, those 1/9 twist heavy barrels are capable of sub MOA accuracy.

Got an A2 receiver I keep thinking about turning into one....then I talk myself out of it because A2 receivers in my head go on 20", 14.5" or 11.5" barrels. Built a few "pseudo" dissys with flat tops and long rails but no FSB...yet. Will order some fixed FSBs soon.

That grip isn't dyed, its the way it came from BCM.

Ironically my son bought me a Magpul Stealth Gray K2+ grip for Father's Day that I'm saving for my AR pistol build. That K2+ grip is a totally different shade of gray than that MOE handguard you seen in that photo.

I would like to try one but not sure which billet upper would look ok / good with a carry handle. Though about a semi light weight build with a Battle Arms Development billet set, Voodoo 16.5 barrel, and a JP adjustable clamp on FSB.
