No help I am sure, but, .......I think that I remember something about it needing to have the strap installed. Mandella effect? Had a wet dream with a hot FBI agent and was told that? Yes you bastards, she was ![]() ETA: Yes I know this isn't GD. Yes I know that I am not licensed to give legal advice in any state, county, or on any continent, and/or other planet. At this point, who cares is my answer ![]() There is a common belief that if it comes with some sort of strap, removing that strap or modifying it so it no longer works as designed could be an issue. Again, who knows what the ATF would argue if something went to trial. |

And If....If I am remembering correctly then it was put out at one time that modification was not allowed to include removal of a OEM strap. I am not here to argue for sure and I am only saying what I possibly remember while still putting a smirk on your face and telling the ATF that gay is ok but don't try to force your Unconstitutional beliefs on the rest of us. |

Since they're still trying to prosecute people after the court told them not to, I doubt anything would be legal to them. Would be nice if someone would just shut all their unconstitutional law writing down, preferably by abolishing the ATF and use their money to fix... hell, they could solve world hunger with the money they're using to put people in prison for exercising their rights. I'm pretty sure it's still illegal for me to give legal advise. I think I'm just gonna play it save and buy a Strike Industries brace so they have less room to argue against me. |

The slots are for a strap, hole in the back is for a QD swivel socket, and the big flat bit will be a battery box for 123s and whatever my Primary Arms Aimpoint clone takes, as soon as I get off my ass and design it. It goes on a 1.25" pistol tube and clamps on with an M3 screw and locknut. https://i.postimg.cc/75Tr6xSG/Pistol-Brace-v7.png I’ll never buy a “blade” style brace regardless of price. That’s what it looks like. I wouldn’t know that one from another maker’s design from anything other than a closeup inspection. So what would it take for the ATF to be intimately examining your brace looking for manufacturer information? Has any manufacturer had a brace approved in the last two years? Have any of them submitted any for approval? |

I feel fairly safe with an approved brace, partly because the ATF has gotten smacked down recently, but mostly because I'm in Texas, who has been poking the ATF themselves lately, and is unlikely to allow DPS or locals to go after us law abiding taxpayers, because less people paying taxes is the top of their list of things to avoid. |

Now I've found a Strike Industries brace, which should show up next week, that I hadn't seen before. And I'm not asking the ATF shit. Same goes for anyone else in the alphabet ecosystem. We shouldn't have to ask permission to do lawful things with our guns. |

It was somebody asking the ATF a similar question which stirred up the ATF response that they would consider a braced pistol to be an SBR regardless of the vacated brace rule. They walked that back - kinda - but GoA etc. highly recommend NOT asking the ATF for clarification on anything. . |

I'm not asking anyone for permission to use a legal tool, the use of which is a God given and a Constitutionally protected right. That said, I really don't want to cause any more of a scene than absolutely necessary, so I'll stick with braces made in a factory that I have no design input on (that part just irritates me). And I'm certainly not getting a stamp for it, and just handing over all my information. I'm already on enough lists. |

Again, who knows what the ATF would argue if something went to trial. That's where the strap issue comes in. One could make the argument that the clamping action alone without the strap is "working as a brace as designed." But is the annoyance of the strap enough to take that risk? Up to the user, I'd say. Now the blade brace works without a strap because it was designed to as submitted to atf. The secret sauce of the brace is in how the product is written up by the mfg submission to ATF. |
