| I'm new to gun workings and I have a 9in barrel on AR-15 . It is def over gassed and it is ripping of the lip of the empty shell and not extracting every time. The ones that are ejected are damaged on the lip on the shell casing too. I've tried a heavy buffer H3 and even H2 and still have this problem. With an H3 buffer the casings aren't ejected very far but it still has the problem with the extractor sheering off the lip of the shell. Do I need to just get an adjustable gas black or is it something else? |

Clean the chamber with CLP and chamber brush, and post photo's of it. Standard rig on 55gr ammo, should only need standard buffer, and if your still having over function problems of bolt unlocking too soon with H3 buffer, then problem with either chamber of rig, or it not cleaned correctly(CLP and chamber brush) or gas port way over size to cause problems. As for if problem is not a cleaning one, then upper or entire rig should be sent back for supplier to resolve the problem. Hence if chamber walls are not glass smooth, but reamer ridged to hell, no cheap way to solve the problem, nor having to weld the gas port closed, to drill it smaller instead. |

9" barrel, so I'm assuming pistol length gas system. Try .223 ammo instead of 5.56mm NATO. Slash's Heavy Buffers might help, give him a call. Even standard carbine gassed rifles can be hard on brass and extractors, because the case walls are still under pressure as the action is trying to open and extract the round. If you're already running an H3 buffer, you may have to go heavier. My first Colt Carbine was hell on brass until I went with an H3. |
