The gibbz requires a change in the bolt cam. there are a few gibbz SCRs builds in this thread and elsewhere https://www.reddit.com/r/GunPorn/comments/auvfpl/custom_ares_defense_sport_configurable_rifle_via/ |

I saw 2 new Flightlite rifles at Brownells today. They had laminated wood front hand grips and a laminated wood butt stocks. $999 each. Cool looking rifles but bit pricey. I'm sure if you lived in an AR restricted State they would be a bargain since Mini 14's age going for $1000 plus. kwg |

After checking back with the LGS to see if they had it and forgot, I went online and ordered parts, subsequently got them cancelled for being out of stock, several times, reordered, canc'd ad nauseum. They've gotten much better about updating their parts stock status since the beginning of the year. I kept trying and eventually got almost all of the parts separately since then. I finally got the SCR bolt carrier's strut (and yet another complete bolt carrier assembly. minus bolt) on order last weekend (6/5/21). Lesson learned: Don't wait for them to email you. It won't happen. Check their website regularly and often: https://fightlite.com/parts-and-accessories/scr-parts |

| Well good update to my previous post. A member here sent me a message that he had a lower for sale with carrier but not bolt. The price was in my range and so I paid immediately. It is a pistol lower so I will have to source a stock for it but I am exited to be a large step ahead. |

The SCR bolt itself is the same as any standard AR-15/M16 bolt. Refer to the post on the bottom of page 23, when you run across a nice and inexpensive Remington 1100 or 11-87 buttstock ;-) https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/-/118-672281/?r=7382129&qte=1#i7382129 |

That was 2 weeks ago. $999 plus tax out the door. kwg |

Does the scr take a 20 gauge or 12 gauge model stock? For the "AR-Fudd" rifle I referenced a few posts above, I used a 12-gauge Rem-1100 furniture set. Those are available (new) from Boyds. The buttstock was a bit larger in all dimensions than the receptacle on the rear of the receiver. So, in addition to the typical fitting adaptations, I had to round the edges of the stock's forward surface. It looks OK, but the stock is noticeably "thicker" than the receiver. Dunno if a 20-gauge set would fit more flush with the receiver's dimensions. The Boyds 1100 stocks have a ~1-inch-diameter hole in the rear, extending several inches into the stock, then reducing to ~5/8". Since you have a "pistol" receiver, you'd have to extend that 1-inch hole 5-6" inches further toward the receiver (I forget the exact measurement). I overshot the distance a bit, and had to add a couple of washers inside the 1-inch hole. Using a Dremel, I cut across a couple (opposite from one another) of the six(?) holes in the buffer-tube end cap, turning them into a big slot. I then used a large, long screwdriver to tighten the cap to the buffer tube, securing the stock to the receiver. |

I'm planning to do something similar fairly soon. Any problems getting it to operate with a longer gas system? @brummetk |

Expectedly, repeated efforts to get in touch with Fightlite to purchase a new trigger assembly have been met with radio silence. Sounds like the best approach will be to wait for new production lowers to go on sale... Edit: Could the Gen 2 improvements be accomplished by polishing the components? |

I love my SCRs, but current resale prices are making it tough to not sell. There's a lower (w/ SRC carrier, of course) on GB that's already at nearly $1500 with 8 days still left! That's twice as much as I bought my second one for, and that was a complete rifle! Crazy! Never thought of these as an investment, but even if that price plateaus (and I just throw away the stock upper), I could sell both my lowers for around $1800 in net profit (~ +140%) after just 5 years. If it keeps going ... cha-ching! |

If it keeps going ... cha-ching! Holy crap those prices. I never would've considered them an investment either. I have an early Ares branded SCR with a low serial (102X) which I got for cost ($650!) about 6 years ago because a gun store I walked into said I was the first person to look at it in the 6 months they've had it. Now I might have to think about selling. I have the OEM sights and the 2nd gen trigger upgrade too. The stock upper is worth something, even just for parts, the pencil thin barrel will attract somebody with a weird project in mind and the slab sided upper would too. |

Hey everyone, new here. Figured I would help update this thread. So I can confirm that Fightlite is still making SCR lowers, their last run became available on Nov 23rd and sold out by Nov 25th. I was able to order a Walnut stock on the first day after 3 years of searching. Unfortunately these availability runs seem sporadic and are rarely advertised unless they have some ready to go. I was lucky enough to visit their page the day they were back in stock and I had funds to get one. The good: The lower is of very good quality, nothing loose or misaligned. Had great packaging, fairly light, comfortable. The trigger is crisp, with what I would estimate is around a 3-4 pound pull (have not measured). Transfer was easy enough. Clean too. Everything functions as it should, no buttons hang up or become hard to operate. Very solid The bad: 1. Communication. Don't expect much, if any, personal communication after you place an order; through email, their social media, or phone. 2. Their customer service is non-existent. You can call their number on the website, but youll get sent to an answering machine where you'll leave a voicemail that won't get returned. 3. Your funds won't be taken out immediately after you order. My payment showed "pending" in my account for about a week, then disappeared without any money being taken out. It was finally taken out when it shipped, three weeks later. So make sure those funds stay on the account for awhile. |

I ordered an AR Stoner side charger upper from iirc Midway that I used on my first Ares SCR lower. It had a bad out of spec firing pin. A few thousands too long. Really shitty situation. I was at a public outdoor range and there were probably half a dozen other people shooting. I had a suppressor on mine, while wearing ear pro, shooting subsonic 300 BLK so when I let the bolt go forward (pointed down range thank God) and it went off I wasn't totally sure if it had- or didn't believe that it had,, so I sighted at my target and shot and it doubled. I packed it up and left. Took it home and measured and that firing pin (not from ARES) was too long, out of spec. I've mentioned it before in this thread but the design of this firearm is sensitive to the length of the firing pin. Too long and the rat tail will push the firing pin forward and basically keep it engaged/pressed forward so you got a bolt with a permanent firing pin sticking through. I hope that made sense. |

Their tracking system literally says three things: Package picked up, On The Way, and Delivered at Destination. Basically, it'll get there when it gets there.. 5. Purchase Instructions, FFL, and Website Construction. Okay, so they give decent enough instructions on their website on ordering one of these lowers, stating you have 48 hours to send them the FFL of whatever shop you'll pick the lower up from lest your order gets cancelled. Your account on their website should have the ability to register the address of your local shop they'll be sending it to, with an attachment upload for their FFL. It doesn't. Only your personal address is listed. This can be confusing as you might not be sure what address they'll be looking at when they get to you. You have to send a separate email with your shops FFL to their sales email and hope they got it in time. Overall, it's a very quality product and super unique, however, the personnel side of their business needs some improvement https://i.ibb.co/sskGZcz/20211216-172207.jpg @Uncommon65 Beautiful lower! Please post photos of the finished rifle. |

Hello, I'm hoping this discussion still gets a fair amount of traffic. I recently just convinced my long time FFL of selling me an SCR pistol lower he's been sitting on since pre-covid. He was sitting on it with the intention of converting it to a rifle for someone by getting ahold of the recoil system from a rifle version but could never get ahold of anyone from fightlite and never came across them for sale anywhere. He sold it to me at what it cost him back when he bought it so it was a good deal... but now I'm stuck with his problem, sourcing those parts. I have 3 questions. Has anyone here had any luck getting a hold of fightlight outside of their website contact info? Does anyone have these parts to sell (rifle length recoil tube, spring, follower and cap)? Does anyone have these parts and can take accurate measurements for me (tube & follower)? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! |

As an owner of an Ares SCR, I can say this: Don't hold your breath. Does anyone have these parts to sell (rifle length recoil tube, spring, follower and cap)? I doubt anyone does, but there may be another option: You could have a BRN-180 upper modified to fit it. That upper looks pretty wicked on an SCR lower. Does anyone have these parts and can take accurate measurements for me (tube & follower)? I don't have the necessary precision measuring instruments for that, but someone here may. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! About all I can offer is the suggestion for the upper. |

Wow, I checked just a few weeks ago and they had little more than recoil springs and BCG parts. Glad to see them expanding the parts list. |

They had an Instagram post recently saying they've been updating the stock, waiting until they were ahlpy with the quality, etc Fightlite Instagram |
