@Soberglitch

Can you post a pic of your build to get me fired up?

Sure thing. I’m gonna post what I can remember of the build too since I lost the thread I posted on it.

Upper: All Colt of course: CM receiver, C marked BCG and 14.5 barrel, flat delta ring, 6 hole skinny handguard. Surefire 660 w/ barrel mount.

Lower: Colt AR-15 A2 Govt Carbine restricted lower. Standard Colt parts kit. 2 position buffer tube with a 3rd hole drilled and CAR-15 stock(Colt, Oly or Eagle, not sure, just know it’s from a pre-ban lower)

Optic: Aimpoint 5000. ARMS M16A1A2 (Colt marked) weaver carry handle mount.

My goal for the build was to be as period correct as I could. Most, if not all, parts are from the early 90s. That’s why I chose to have an old A2 receiver instead of a new production C7.

My favorite part about the build is the lower. The AR-15 A2 Carbine marking is as close as anyone will get to the M16 A2 Carbine marked lowers that Gordy and the like would be running.

Now I just need the 3 piece collar for my AEM5 and the build will be complete.

Good luck on the build. It was a fun journey.

Having to downsize the collection so this upper is for sale if anyone is interested. Figured the only buyers would be in this thread.

It’s been said a million times before, but, most of those guys aren’t gun guys. 90% of setups are done simply bc it works and for no other reason.

I sure did, CredoBro. Need to work another up for 77gr, but I’m a poor sitting on too much green tip to do that yet.

Green section = MPBR. Best I could conjure with my setup was 300 with a 250y zero.

If you hit me up with your ring height and load I’ll cook you one up; or I can do up a blank one, and the deets can be filled in with a sharpie and erased with some rubbing alcohol after laminating.

Everything for the NSW rifle Recce should be home by now, I’m out until Sunday.

On another note, someone in the NSW thread mentioned Lilja has barrels with KAC length intermediate gas. I could run the Lilja and URX2 with the tapered gas block. I really wish I had more of these suckers. So many ideas.

Me and @Outrider did. I'm not sure who else did. He killed it so I'm not as excited about having mine done, even though I'm keeping mine 14.5 for OG points.

He and @SDMF_Rebel bring the heat on offbeat builds. They're the reason I'm so messed up.

I just scored a 723, so I was really hype about doing a build with the collar until I was told they weren’t going to be made again. Was hoping to see some good builds with them in here so I could get all Misty-eyed while living the 14.5 life.

Gordon's was 14.5 with a longer Ops Inc can. I'm looking at sourcing everything for a Form 1 to keep the length. 12.5 is titties with the AEM5 though

You’re actually gonna form 1 and do the real 14.5 with the larger reflex? Massive respect

Edit: I was doing the 12.5 + AEM5 because I have the AEM5 coming for my mod h

Yeah. I'm just a fan of 14.5. I figure the barrel is already there and shoots well, just need it contoured. Got a machine shop in FL lined up to make the adapter.

That’s wicked sweet. Hope it works out. Wonder if it’d be okay to ask if they could thread a few of them in the area between the gas tube and barrel for inserts like BRT’s old ones.

I could understand it if he needed more eye relief but it looks like he could have the optic in the exact same position if he flipped the mount around.

An MRE with NT4 flush against the rail has been on "my list" for a few years now. FSB builds are such a yin and yang thing for me though. They are peak aesthetic but I'm not big on shooting irons. I've got my Wilson flip up sight that could be cool on the MRE ala something Geno did a long time ago.

I'm just struggling with the AR platform right now. I've got all my "permanent" setups done and now I just cycle through a bunch of configurations that I enjoy building and looking at but will probably rarely shoot. That just doesn't sit will with my personal philosophy.

We're in the same boat.  I havent built something new in months, which is crazy for me.

I've been addicted to reloading and wheel guns lately.  I still take the mk12's out pretty regularly though.

Mk12/precision AR with AEM5 for life. That would probably be the last AR I'd ever get rid of. Mine accompanies me on pretty much every range trip.
