Does anyone know if it’s possible to remove the steel qd inserts out of a Geissele mk16 rail. I’m looking a grabbing an upper and I really am not a fan of how they look nor do I like placing my sling that far back on the rail. Thanks!

All rails have QD in dumb places.  I use an m-lok attachment for slings and put it where I want it.

The hole is permanent, whether there is an insert or not.

A while back they made it seem like it could be possible, but it wouldn't be easy or recommended. The couple people that posted about trying weren't successful.

Probably better off looking for an older used model sans QD insert and swap out the newer one to sell on the EE.

I definitely am not going to attempt a removal of them. It’s either find an old non insert model or do the suggested paint job.
