I've watched some videos, but didn't see anything to get my notches aligned on the bullet drop compensator knob. I know you bottom out the knob, then click it forward to the "Z" setting to zero at 25m for a 25/300 yard zero. If my notches don't align, will this affect my zeroing process? If anyone can help me move forward on this, that would be greatly appreciated! I have attached some pics. I think the Z setting is aligned, but it's not perfect. Attached File Notice my notches don't align on the 6/3 setting, and this is fully bottomed out. I can't turn it down far enough to expose the set screw on top to loosen. Attached File It's a new to me Windham Weaponry M4A4 government model. Attached File |

Here's what Brave AI says: To zero a 6/3 detachable carry handle AR-15 for a standard 36-yard/300-meter zero, set the rear sight to 6/3, adjust the elevation to make the sights bottom out at 6/3 minus 2 clicks (or the "Z" mark for 25-meter zeroing on rifles), and fire a group at 36 yards (or 25 meters) to align the point of impact with the point of aim. |

I was able to loosen the 1/16" set screw. I bottomed the lower knob down to the last click and aligned the 6/3 knob notch with the carry handle notch and retightened the set screw. Rotating from 6/3 setting to Z to zero the rifle is raising the sight, so what would the purpose be of leaving 2 clicks from bottoming out? Trying to understand. |

| I have it set that when the knob is fully bottomed out, it is perfectly lined up with the 6/3 setting. Raising the knob 2 clicks puts it perfectly on the Z setting now. |

It's to make sure you get a full click at the bottom. The USMC set their carry handles to have 3 extra clicks (fixed carry handle) or 6 extra clicks (removable) so they could dial down to 100 and 200 with the small aperture |

RIBZ Method Read this explanation. In my opinion, this is the best way to set up an A2 rear sight. Works for detachable carry handles as well. |

Yes I remember we had ours bottom out to clicks past 6/3. It wasn’t to use but rather just have it where the aperture is not bottoming out and has a wiggle room to maintain zero. It was unauthorized to eff with the site at all so the rule was if it didn’t bottom out with 2 clicks past 6/3 that it had to go to the armory. For 20 inch you zero on the Z then dial it back to 6/3. For 14.5 you only have to zero on 6/3 not the Z. After that there was no touching. We never learned that ribz thing. |
| Well, I adjusted the knob to have 4 clicks past 6/3. Does anyone one know what the MOA value per click is? Would tightening my knob 2 clicks past 6/3 put me at a 200 zero? 4 clicks past 6/3 at 100, etc? I guess I'll only know when I get out and shoot the damn thing. Would be nice to know if each click is 1/4, 1/2, or 1 MOA. |

You could also flip to the large aperture but lose the finer aiming of the small one |

What it boils down to is that they fear an effective resistance to their power: So, Left in power=Guns bad, mmmmkay...?, Right in power=Guns good!-thskirk

Not 100% but definitely an 80-90% confidence level especially during a deployment where they only have a 25m range. |

Well, I think I finally got it dialed in. I zeroed at 27 yards on the Z setting. Turned it 4 clicks counterclockwise past the 6/3 setting and this is the group I got at 50 yards. The rifle is grouping well! Setup in a Lead Sled for zeroing. 55gr Federal xm193. Attached File |

After shooting that group, I adjusted my windage one click to the right and shot another group. Attached File I love this rifle! Dropping an MBT trigger into it made it much better. Attached File |

Love the 50 yard zero, I use it for all my iron sights. To preserve the markings on the elevation wheel if you are using A2 rear sights, then you set it to bottom out 2 clicks below 8/3... "So the sight should be at 8/3 -2 clicks, all the way down, not up a click. Please note that removable carry handle sights are marked 6/3 (rather than 8/3); also some are in 'half-clicks' as well. There should be 3 clicks between 3 and 4 on the knob. If there are 6 clicks then the sight needs to be set at -4 clicks (instead of -2)." And that's that, zero with the small small aperture as normal. |
