Nice rifle to keep in a truck

This is a combination of two Colt carbines, the lower half is a AR6721 marked "AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine" and the upper half is a 6920 M4 carbine with Knight's Armament RAS M4 rails.

Upgraded components are Colt ambi selector, B5 Systems grip, B5 enhanced SOPMOD, BCM Gunfighter medium ambi charging handle, Surefire M961 light and Aimpoint Duty RDS on Scalarworks QD micro mount.

I don't have a truck but I have an old '06 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (long wheelbase, two doors) with a 4 liter straight 6 cylinder engine.

Current truck gun. kinda of an odd duck with the barrel length. barrel was originally cut down to about 13.3” to have a suppressor mounted flush with a RIS II, but the threads were not cut concentric to the bore(found out the hard way), so i found a different use for it. P&W a Kak xm-177 flash hider to it, so the overall barrel length on this is about 17.3” lol.

That’s a F1’d AR lower, pretty sure ATF classification qualifies.

This is my home defense weapon.  It is a 9" 300 BLK.  This thing is so quiet shooting subs.  I am going to switch out the red dot at some point for something with longer battery life, so I can keep it on all the time.

Home defense is the long one, shorty is the truck gun.

The 13.9" on the bottom is what I typically take with me when I'm on the road or out and about, though that may get replaced by the 14.5" on top. My only reservation about switching is that the Aimpoint can stay powered on.

Also, the 14.5" is an SBR whereas the 13.9" is P/W, so if I travel out of state it's always the 13.9".

Suppressed Mk18 for HD. Or if I'm traveling in state and staying in hotels or places where I can fold it up in my Vertx backpack and walk it in and out without looking conspicuous.

Another friendly BUMP.

Just finished this build.  I like to think of it as the “AR15-A5.”
Materials list:
Aero slick upper.  Larue LAT handguard.  Magpul Mlok rail covers.  Surefire M300 on SF mount.  BFG sling.  Criterion chrome-lined 16” pencil barrel with FSB pinned by RAW.  A2 FH.  Daniel Defense fixed rear sight.  Microbest chrome BCG.  Aimpoint Duty RDS on Scalarworks mount.  JP Enterprises silent captured spring.  Radian charging handle.  KP15 lower with Larue MBT trigger.  Might eventually add a magnifier.
Weight without mag (but otherwise exactly as pictured) is 7 pounds even.  For comparison, my Colt 6720 with factory furniture, but with the same sling, light, and optic is 6 pounds, 15 ounces. Basically the KP15+slick upper weight savings allowed me to trade up to a stout free-float HG for a 1oz weight penalty.  And the Larue is not even the lightest available, but at the time it was by far the cheapest at $90.  The weight would probably be in favor of this build over the 6720 if I used a standard spring&buffer, as the JPSCS adds a couple of ounces net.  I’m very happy with it so far.  Need to go shooting next week!
This is my “ready rifle” at home.  Another just like it (perhaps with a standard lower for shorter OA length) will be my “truck gun.”

This will be my truck gun now that it is set up the way I want it.

PSA M4 Carbine Lower, PSA premium 10.5" upper, mixture of CMMG with a couple Geissele internal parts thrown in for good measure, KAK Industries original Shockwave Blade brace on a KAK 7075 buffer tube, Colt side sling swivel and a Magpul sling, Olight Odin light on a Kerm-Lock QD mount. If I can find my Surefire G2X Tactical light, I'll replace the Odin with the SF as I prefer the use of CR123 batteries over rechargables for a a truck gun.  Mil-Spec carry handle rear sight so no optic to worry about getting knocked out of alignment or battery dying.  Nothing overly expensive that I would cry over if the gun was stolen or confiscated.  It's stored in a case the right length for the pistol alongside a UW Gear Swamp Fox 4 mag carrier.  The truck is inside our garage at night, so no worries about nighttime vehicle break ins.  It's specifically a pistol for the legalities of carrying it in a vehicle.  I live literally within sight of the Michigan border, have family living in Michigan, and spend a fair amount of recreational time there as well.  I can carry a loaded rifle in my vehicles here in Indiana, but it's pretty much verboten in Michigan.

HD AR pistol will be shown in a later post.
