I swear, Volkswagen had this in mind when they designed the trunk organizer. Obviously, had to make a few cuts with a razor blade but it's a slick fit.

I still need to find a weaponlight for it, and will change the grip/stock once I have more money (I really like the Daniel Defense ones) but I'm considering the 'bump in the night' stick complete for now. Not bad for less than $400 invested 
Edit: Btw is there an informal name for 13.7" rifles?

When I realized I had over $3k of truck gun i was leaving unsecured in my car, I took it back into the house and put a Shockwave 590 and M&P 9 2.0 in the car instead. I'd much rather lose those 2 than my pistol |

Here is my build that I have been working on for years, this is my first and only AR. It's been shootable in various configs for 3 years now (I had an 18" 3-gun barrel on it when first built, thinking it would be a do-all precision/etc rifle) but now I think I have it how I want it for a "home defense" setup, which is the role it is now firmly entrenched in.
My goal is to not make any more changes to it until I have gone through a 6-hour defensive carbine course at a local shooting range. The same range hosts Gunsite's only "satellite location" handgun course so I am fairly sure a course there should be pretty good. I've never had any real training, and to be honest have not even broke in this rifle, probably less than 250 rounds through it (first and second barrel combined). I spent the last 2 days watching youtube and FINALLY, got the VTAC sling adjusted and mounted in a way that is super comfortable to me. I hated the thing since I bought it. Learning yesterday that I could undo the velcro tab and make it even tighter was what finally pushed it over the top for me, until that time I thought I just couldn't have it both adjusted for "loose enough" and "tight enough" at the same time. I spent the last 90 mins moving the tape switch from 12 oclock to 11. It is much more comfortable for me to use this way and I can activate it with my fingertips if I switch to my weak hand. This required me to install an extra picatinny rail section which adds weight, I didn't want to commmit to the VHB 3M tape yet. The rifle seems pretty heavy for what it is. 7 lb 14 oz unloaded. Not quite sure what I can do there as far as 16" barrels go, maybe that is the price to pay for the light and optic. The Samson Evolution rail is fairly light for it's length class. If I was going to re-build it, I definitely would go with an MLOK rail setup, I have grown to dislike working on the Evo. ALG EMR probably in my future at some point, I would be able to save some oz by switching pic sections to magpul polymers. I need to get used to zip ties on a rifle... Lower: LaRue MBT-2S trigger Magpul CTR MOE+ Grip + trigger guard Aero Receiver CMMG LPK Noveske QD endplate Upper: Criterion Lightweight Pencil 16" 223 Wylde Barrel GFH MOD4 CH Magpul PRO BUIS (more oz, I know) Primary Arms Advanced Red Dot optic w/ PA co-witness base BCG/Bolt is from ARPerformance where I bought my first 18" barrel from, he says it's same as BCM/Colt/FN bolt, who knows Samson Evo 12.37" rail DD lo pro clamp on gas block Streamlight Railmount 1 on a Haley Thorntail SBR mount, tape switch mounted to accessory pic rail VTAC Padded sling Edited to Add : Seems like it was a waste of time to take pics with my wife's Canon Rebel, I swear that my iPotato could have done as good a job by the time I resized them!
