That is some freaking hotness!!!  I love that.  Would you be willing to weight that thing?  I'm curious how much it weighs with the rail on it.  And the VFG.

Wow, second time this has happened to me today.  Top of page.  LOL

The bathroom scale says 9.2lbs loaded. Not much more heavier than a standard a2

Nice rifle btw.

Thank you.

I'm guessing your adding about 8 ounces with that rail and VFG.  My A2 weight 7pounds 8 ounces unloaded. Strange thing is I've had an A1 on mine too and an A1 grip and they both are a smidge heavier than the A2 stuff.  I guess the difference in plastics made it heavier back then.  I think when I had an A1 stock on it weighed 7lbs9oz.  So I gained an ounce.  LOL.

That I didn't notice.  I would notice the added weight in your rail though.  To me one of the best things about the A2 is the balance from being so light in front.  :)  But that's just me.  The rail is so useful though.   Plus yours looks great.

I found these photos in my phone. They were taken from when the Wife was stuck on a color guard detail ( we are dual army ) anyways, these are the type of rifles in our current arms rooms. We are in TRADOC, so we dont have fancy new m4s lol. I thought this rifle was cool because the extreme two tone, and the LK upper. Notice the m5 rail as well.

Cery cool - upper may have been refinished.
Pistol grip is vintage Colt - the rarest of types with bright plastic

Literally the only rifle that looks good with 20 round curved aluminum mags :)

Thank you and I'm glad you think so about the mags.  I actually prefer them to 30 rounders.  And I prefer them to straight 20 rounders because of the tipping of the follower in the straight.  I think the curved ones have the potential to be more reliable.  Although I've never heard anyone complain about the straight 20's.  But supposedly you should download them to 18.

But the thing is, I barely ever see these curved 20's any more.  Although I'm not looking real hard.  I think Brownells is where I got them and they may still make them.  I also have curved 20 magpul.  It doesn't look near as good though.  LOL.

Well let me throw this one at you, does it look bad in my recce to you?

I'd say they're at home on a recce, certainly.

I'm building up a 13.7 SBR Noveske that will run a 4x ACOG; kind of a mini recce if you will, that crosses into carbine territory. I plan to use mostly 20rd Gen3 PMAGs.
I just dig curved 20 rounders.

On your recce rifle, is that an older LaRue mount? I notice it doesn't have the locking tab on the rear lever.

[#9]
Yeah, it's over 15 years old.  SPR-E.

We have the same tastes in mags.

Your build sounds cool!!!!  I would almost rather have an ACOG on my Recce.  But then it wouldn't be a recce.  But I'd like the balance better.

Say 3 Hail Lutz' and all is forgiven.

You may play as long as the upper has a FSB and fixed carry handle.

SORRY!

I knew as soon as I posted it I was going wayward.   Please forgive me.  Although you're probably just jealous of my rifle brony.  LOL.    For the right price....

Plus, I tried to show off my handiwork on the grip in the recce thread and I got no love.  So my subconscious was probably trying to appeal to a more supportive crowd.    I don't get out much.

*ALMOST* too high-speed of an A2

Do you have a heavy gen1 RediMag or something you could anchor it down with?

I dig it.    Very useful.  I like the old and new theme.  Especially cuz you get extra points for the A1 upper.

Won't be very BHD any more though.

True. I’ve had this set up rolling around in my head for a long time and have a good BHD rifle already, didn’t really need two.

Ah, well more power to you then.  You could've used the old PRI tube and made it look like Augees old Africa carbine.  Or old DELTA carbine.  I forget what he called it.  But he cut a spot for the FSB.  His had an A2 receiver though.  It was an OD tube.  You remember that one?

That was the plan

However plans changed and I sent the tube, Diemaco upper, Colt 16” HBAR to my gunsmith for a Daryl Holland type build or Augee’s original “Kyle Lamb” build

The scope is amazing, bright, clear, crisp, red in the center of the crosshairs. It’s awesome! That’s a Leupold mark 2 mount. Holland used an ARMS riser with rings, I have the same set up but a different model mount. It looks goofy to me so I’m using the leupold for now!

So I finally got my A2 up and running. Took it to the range, got it sighted in with the old school 25M zero, and boy the wait was worth it. I absolutely love this rifle. SOOO smooth and flat shooting, and very accurate with Wolf Gold 55gr. Easily my new favorite rifle.

-PSA Stealth Lower, Doublestar A2 upper. Barrel is a WW 20" A2 kit, lower parts kit and stock kit are also WW.

That's 400yd. That peaks about 11" high.

Up 3/4 turn of the front sight is close to 36/300yd zero. This peaks about 6" high.

Oh geeez, that takes me back.  I had a board set up very similar.  Indy trucks, I forget what kind of wheels.  You see how the kids do them nowadays?  The wheels got tiny...  I think.  Unless that's not the trend any more.  And I think the boards got longer too.  But I had the rail guard thingies too.  For rail slides and grabbing.  I never did skate bowls but we started to make a half pipe in my barn but we only got as far as a quarter pipe.  It was 5.5' tall, with no actual vertical.  A couple buddies and I built it with the help of his Dad.

I also played in bands in high school and after.  Although I was not metal.  Garage bands / alternative with a hint of retro.  I was a Fender and Gibson guy.  Although I was too broke to have a real Les Paul.  Only an Epiphone.  But I had Mexican Tele's.

Wow, blast from the past.  Thank you.

SG's got a rockin sound.  Not sure if you are in tune with this band but one band I used to listen to that used SG's was Fugazi.  Check out the song "Waiting Room".

We are off track.  Memory lane.  I tried making it up with pics....  LOL.
