If you wanted to build an integrally suppressed 9mm blowback AR15, could you port the barrel like an MP5SD barrel?

I don't see why not...
That's what Angstadt Arms has done with the UDP-9i

yes you could

but

If it was only for a range toy, then yes. Cheap 115 gr as sub sonic  would be fun.

If you wanted to use in dual role, maybe as a SD weapon then no.

A few people have done it. Anvil Arms comes to mind. I know a couple shops still do it.

D3 also does it.

Sweet! May have to copy that! Also, don’t know if you remember me, but I’m the member that emailed you about you’re 8” 300 Blk and will be building my own version of that build soon enough! Greatly appreciate your help @RDTCU

Mostly range toy, maybe home defense but I have a 16” suppressed 300 Blk out for that, soon to be SBR.

What's the point of this one?  The product page still says it requires 2 tax stamps if you want a stock.  How is it any better than a standard barrel with a detachable can?  If I'm gonna fork out money for a silencer that only works on 1 barrel/gun, i'm gonna at least need it to hit 16" so i don't need a SBR stamp, too.

I too was like this once, young padiwan....as your collection expands, you find yourself more and more interested in niche firearms. I have several multi stamp guns now and 16” guns simply bore me. If two stamps scares you, think about a pistol brace.

And thats how you end up with a $2500 pistol caliber AR.  :D
I'll pass on that one.

Do y’all think a barrel like this could work? Or would I need a heavy profile barrel?

I have an integrally suppressed blow back 45acp upper with a ported barrel. Two stamp gun SBRrd with the removable suppressor.

All the work was done by SRT Arms 12 or so years ago. Started off as an Olympic upper. One of my favorite guns and extremely reliable.

Haha, have a few of those - they’re awesome. Just wait until you start getting into nicer rifles and night vision. I have one rifle pushing 15k

Similar to a MP5-SD, for those that don't care about the extra $200 for a shorter firearm, I guess.

I would go shorter, personally.

Here's mine, a build inspired by the Colt/Knights gun built for the DEA CLET team.  It still needs a paintjob on a few parts.  The barrel isn't ported as I'm intending to only shoot 147gr subs in it.

4.5" barrel, 7 K baffles inside.Attachment Attached File

Sight base welded to the tube?

Yep. Cut off the sight, radiused the bottom and welded it to the tube.
I'll get pics later and post them.

How short should I go? I’m thinking probably 4.5”, how does that sound?

There’s a dealer with KAK 4” barrels for $60, is this the best donor barrel?

Not the best lookin silver solder job I've ever done but its not coming off.
There is a steel barrel nut, steel tube, and an aluminum end cap. There's some index marks to keep everything lined up.
