You guys might wish to purchase the MCTAR-22G2 as your free float option.
MCTAR-22G2-BLK I am pretty sure that @Knife_Sniper has this on his A5 set up. |

I actually have a BCM QRF with a titanium barrel nut from V7.
It weights a tenth of an oz more than plastic handguards with the titanium barrel nut. In my case I built around a colt HBAR barrel so I needed a nice looking tube for the build that also cut some weight. Ill post pictures when its more done. |

The area I drive through every day is scattered with ANA/ANP/MOI troops carrying M16A4s. It looks weird to me, seeing those guys carrying our weapons...

Is a colt or fn lower more correct? Would they both have the same serial number prefix on an issued rifle?
|
|
|
Just bought one of those FN surplus uppers to start my M16A4 clone build.
Anyone have any recommendations on correct/high quality A2 stocks? I've been scouring the web and it seems like Colt is OOS everywhere and everything else out there seems to come with plastic trapdoors and spacers. I see that Fulton Armory lists one with a metal trap door, but no idea who the supplier is. |

I saw that one, but was hoping to avoid setting up a GB account. Looks like that's the best option though, thanks.

Thank, emailed them.

Well, it looks like I'll be joining the A4 crowd in the near future. Just picked up a full KAC M5 RAS yesterday for a reasonable price. Time to dust off that old butt stock mag pouch I put away all those years ago.

Their stock of uppers sold out pretty quick. |

View Quote As far as the commercial A4 rifles go, in my opinion, the Colt is going to be closer to using all the same MILSPEC parts as their real M16s, but the roll mark and label (AR-15A4) doesn’t match the real thing. The FN Military Collector M16A4 has more accurate lettering on the lower, but they made some mistakes with it, such as putting AUTO instead of BURST by the selector. Apparently they also may not be able to use true MILSPEC parts on their A4 because they don’t own the specs for commercial sales, only under government contract. |

The serial numbers all seem to be somewhere in the 10XXXXXX range, since they were produced in batches. My Army issued FN was in the 10163XXX series, and I’ve seen pictures of Colts in the 10022XXX range. It would be interesting to find some kind of production records to see which company produced which serial number ranges.
