Way to kick it off, AKSU!

If an AR-15 doesn't have some form of carry handle, something's not right.
|
What kind of sling is that?

No, its far better. Marines were buying 3 points like the Specter sling so the USMC found a lousy one to adopt officially.

But answer me this. The above rifle has a Troy rail, and no longer has the ACOG. Is it still an A4 clone? What's the definition? Remember this is a clone section. So even though the mil issue rail is a knights M5 RAS, your troy rail offers the same look, feel, and platform. The ACOG is not necessary for it to be an A4. There are plenty of Marines using the detachable carry handle/sight. The A4 is a flat top M16 with M5 RAS rail. It's pretty simple. On a real one the fire control would be Safe, Semi, Burst. Same as an A2. |

AKSU- Very nice!! I want one of those puppies but can't afford one. They are out of my league as of yet.
|

Looks like they didn't want to sacrifice the M5 RAS on the Iraqis. I like how he mounted the vertical grip to the A2 hand guards.

I want one.

I passed on the VFG to try to keep the weight down. This rifle has a HBAR. It's called HEAVY for a reason! |

Yes. I had ADCO add the M4 cuts to the barrel. They also installed the A2 flash hider. The barrel is a Colt Match Target barrel that originally had a pinned compensator. Originally Posted By GulDuCal: Nothing is over... NOTHING!! You just don't turn it off.
You, sir, are correct. The UPS delivery truck reminds me of that quite frequently. |

Just shot in an Appleseed event with my A4 clone (pics on page 46) this weekend... scored a 222/250 on the AQT.
GOD, love that rifle! ETA: Used the carry handle sight, too, as I am too poor for an ACOG |

I think I need another one.

I the way I figure it, I have spent the money I could use to get an ACOG or similar to buy ammo to train to use my irons more effectively. Not as tacticool, but very effective. |

A rifle that works fine for a 20-50rd range visit may show some hiccups after 250-400rds. Sorry, I have no A4 pic to share. |

Sometimes you have to look for the irony, and sometimes it runs at you, head-butts you, kicks you in the balls, then bends you over and makes you its bitch.

Why not go with the real thing? Find yourself an FN government profile upper, put it together with a Sabre Defence lower. Or if money is no object, just buy a complete Sabre Defence rifle and put the KAC on it. Any of the above will be as close as a civi. is ever going to get to the real thing (unless he's willing and able to buy an MG permit.)

How did you attach your sling at the front end? |

They no longer carry it but these guys do: http://redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=13&idcategory=7 I really like it. In fact, I could make a convincing arguement that I bought the rifle to accompany the sling. Reminds me of a BFG Vicker's Sling with better attachment points for a factory rifle. It's not for a tactified AR with rails and whatnot. But for a 20" rifle with standard furniture - it's a real sexy upgrade from a basic factory sling. Gives me waist level carry and a quick shouldering. As you bring the rifle up - the sling drops off the end of the stock and stays way the hell outta Hokie's work-zone. Way less cumbersome than any 3-point sling and it's easier to carry waist level than any 2-point sling. At the hips, the gun stays vertical without wanting to flop left or right. When tossed over the back so it hangs freely, the rifle's muzzle is at my calf. For what I use this rifle for...it's perfect. If you had to walk, stand, march, or run with your M16 clone - it's a nice set up. Simple too. One adjustment point. No QD points or multiple buckles to mess with. It connects to the gun using the existing sling loops. http://redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/catalog/BP42_Detail.jpg http://redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/catalog/BP42_2_Detail.jpg http://redi-mag.com/Shop/pc/catalog/BP42-BK_2.jpg Same pic of my gun, for reference: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v734/Hokie1850/IMG_1811.jpg Just reviewing the thread. I used to have one of these slings. I have no idea what happened to it. The link is here now. |

This is the scope I'm looking at getting. I know it's calibrated for a 62 grain 5.56 round...but I plan on using the 77 grain SMK and other heavier slugs in my rifle. How does it work with zero magnifcation...and how does it work at distance at 4 x? I REALLY like this scope, and as much as I'd like to have an ACOG, I like the idea of having a more versatile scope than the ACOG...besides, I'll be on a one way range and shooting hogs...not seeing combat. I'd post a pic of my LMT Lower/BCM Upper, but my photobucket bandwidth is blown out by the dinner pic thread I posted in GD last week. It's an LMT SOPMOD 2 stage lower, with a BCM 20" upper, KAC M4 RIS, Matech BUIS, Larue Tactical 2 point sling, and KAC Front foregrip. I'm going to site it/break it in next week. Hax |

Where could I get those handguards from?
How do they mount around the barrel,do they install just like the stock A2 (three prongedhand guards that go into the front sight post)? I have a match grade AR15 that has a free floating barrel and I am looking for hand guards where I could mount a bipod and a few other things. |
|
|
Yes they install just like standard handgaurds. They are not free float.

I have an XTR on a carbine, and I would highly recommend it vs an RCO for recreational shooting... I know an RCO will go through hell and back, but I don't know about the XTR (because I haven't thrown it around). If you get it the reasons you should be getting it for are the 4x and the BDC... I mean you don't really need the 1x, do you? If you have 4x you're going to use it and if I ever found myself with that optic needing to clear a room I would be point shooting as if I had an RCO vs trying to use it at 1x. |

If you are using a CMP type FF tube under the handguards then these will not work. There is not enough clearance for them to mount. |
