Rule of primacy, people tend to use what they learned first better so since the RCO is their combat optic it is better they learn it first. |

Hah, I know. It just seems not that long ago (August 04) when we were issued the A2 in boot. So seeing a recruit with an A4 and ACOG is kind of a shock to the system.

Anyone have any experience with the Colt AR15a4 with the magpul furniture? Bud's has the FDE one on sale and was thinking about it. I'd be replacing the handguard with a RAS anyways, have lots of A2 grips, just have to trade some leftovers for an A2 stock.
does it use a standard rifle buffer tube? Handguard cap compatible with the RAS? Thanks for any insight |
|
|
Handguard cap should be compatible. The MOE fixed stock doesn't use the A2 stock spacer (I believe?) so you would have to get that for an A2 stock to fit on it, but they're only like $2.

What are you guys using for an upper receiver without M4 cuts?

Anyone know where I can get an F marked flat top upper without feedramps? Thanks.

I will either buy an Aero (they sell without the cuts), or cut out the feedramps on my barrel since I already have an F marked m4 upper. Probably the former, the latter I may regret. |

Keep us updated. Don't see many painted a4s. We had a couple painted a4s with 203s in our scout sniper element in the 501. My A4 had a cco on it and was a pile of garbage. I was happy to get an m4 instead but I went through basic with an A4 and got one when I start with the 501. In the 173rd some units had all rifles painted we were told anyone who did would be busted in a big way which I thought was funny as we wore camo net in our helmets but had black guns...make sense of it if you can. Last go around as an adviser I worked mostly with a pistol as I was always working with guys right on top of me anyway but did once again carry an m4 with 320 this time. Some guys don't know but there is new guidance out for painting rifles in the army. You can find it here Im no longer in the mil and my lower had been painted already. I don't honestly care about clones. My first unit issue a4 was very similar to this only the paint had been taken off again. I wish I still had pictures of it but don't I know it isn't an m16a4 but to give you an idea of what the final paint looks like on a pine needle like this |

Found a carry handle and grip on EE (Don't want to put knock offs from my parts bin no it). Still trying to source an A2 buttstock and trigger guard. |

Trying to wrap up my m16a4 clone and have a question for you guys.... is an F stamped carrier clone correct? I have one of those and the toolcraft version with the cage code. Not sure if the F stamped carriers are issued or just a civilian model. In either case, I would be using an MPF marked bolt. Thanks in advance.

So USMC is switching to the horse shoe reticle ACOG? What's the likelihood of this happening you think?
