Building a GAU-5A, wanting to SBR it. Already have a Colt M4 butt stock, with the Colt CAGE code on it, but should I buy/trade for an FN CAGE stock, as the rest of the parts are geared FN? I desire it to be as authentic as possible. |

Even with the military "collector" edition, it has the FN logo on the stock itself. I haven't seen an actual milspec version of it though where it is logo free. They all have the FN logo them from anyone that I've found. So my thought is stick with the colt version if you want it to be without the logo. Otherwise you might be able to find an actual surplus ones. |
GAU-5A was AF gunsmith built and they were pulling parts in the logistic system, which including any .mil contracts, not just from Colt or FN. So any legit USGI contractor parts will be considered correct for your build. Look at this photo. AF actually used FN cage code upper and rebuilt A2 lower (with BURST marking) for this GAU-5A.
