Im not agreeing that it is a blk2, but its the way you responded to "CloneDiseased".
You asked a rhetorical question (because we all know that it is a 14.5 in barrel), then you corrected him with "recce mini"
Its passive aggressive shit like that, that is annoying. You may not think youre being annoying, but perception is reality bro.

Magnified optics are not CQB optics.

I like the ELCAN, but know what you are getting it for and what you are getting from it, it's better, IMHO, for 360 degree environments by virtue of its generous field of view and optical quality.

For more linear scenarios, other options may be preferable.

Most folks that only ever use them on the range tend to be disappointed by what they get compared to other options for the price.

Will answer in more detail in your post on the optics forum.

So I'm diving into the AR10 game. I found a DD LITE 12.0 762 and I'm building around that.

Going to get a 14.5" barrel and pin it with a SF3P 7.62 as I will be getting a SOCOM 7.62 for my bolt gun as well at some point.

I have no other specific criteria for the build, so I'm thinking for the hell of it Cerakoting the rail to mimic DD FDE, and building it up like a Block II .308 clone. Life is short, why not? :)

First time looking at this thread. If I understand this, you need a heavy profile barrel and certain handguard rails. What is meant when yall say Block II  ?  Im sorry for really stupid questions  . Im old school with my ar's   . I modernized once a few years back. I bought an Aimpoint pro and a Pmag. Just saying  WarDawg

This comment is probably just me seeing what I want to see and liking TannerB's rifle. Mini recce is probably the more accurate and refined term. I've got the FSP build in the works...and I plan to move the EoTech and magnifier over to it when it's done. I plan on making the regular block 2 a "mini recce" then, with a variable power magnified optic in a cantilever mount. We'll see how everything turns out, but I'm digging on the 14.5" "recce" setups lately.

Playing with H-Series (temp cure) Cerakote tonight on polymers, and thought I'd share some results:

B5 SOPMOD, factory Multicam hydro-dipped. Blasted, prepped, and sprayed with Magpul FDE. Note the battery tubes were not coated; only the stock body and adjustment lever. It fits a little bit more snug on a Colt receiver extension, but nothing annoying. There's zero wobble, which I kind of prefer. I do notice however, the adjustment lever "clicks" when you activate it...I'm hoping that's a lever adjustment issue, and not that the lever changed dimension after baking...I'll play with it.

I'm currently working on a recipe to color match LMT "FDE" which has been tricky, but will look awesome as an alternative for clone builds when completed.
Also, my Daniel Defense FDE recipe is coming along nicely (I think you guys will dig it...)

One of the SF guys I work with out here in AFG has an interesting set up. He was previously on a CIF team, so he knows a thing or two about shooting. I'm pretty sure this isn't your normal sopmod kit. He told me he actually took a grinder to the front sight post. lol

What I found most interesting was the PWS KAC556 brake/ KAC suppressor mount and the Troy rail. He also had some kind of special trigger installed. The brake keeps the muzzle really flat while shooting without being obnoxious like most brakes. I was impressed.

Magpul polymer MLOK scout mount. You have to mount it before bolting the rail on.

If you want it, shoot me an IM. I've got an offset GearSector coming soon to replace it on another rifle.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's he's talking about. But the ACOG used to be 1/3 MOA clicks, and got changed to 1/2 MOA clicks.
