My DD M4A1 gets here in December since I ordered straight from DD so I have until then until then to get the correct accessories.
I get good discounts at work on eotechs and MROs but I just can't pull the trigger on an eotech with their problems and an MRO seems too far off for a clone. I have an Aimpoint pro that I could throw a comp m3 cover on and drop it in a KAC mount. Would that be the best bet and call it a day? Would a Larue mount be acceptable? |

Good news is my tan EXPS3-0 should be here any day.
Bad news is I am overthinking the light to go with. Think I am down to 3 options: -SureFires X300U in tan. Looks cool. light weight. under $200 new. Can use on my MK25 as well. -SureFire M952V in tan. New for around $200. Looks cool except for the back portion. heavy. Might use the IR hunting this year. -SureFires Scout M600c in tan. Probably around $300 used. Less lumens (200). Probably the most clone correct. Which should I choose?? |

The discounts vary from product to product. After just spending all that money on a DD and also needing to save up for a Surefire suppressor I'd like to not spend too much on optics for now. I can get MROs and Eotech EXPS3-0's for $350 where a T1 would be more than $200 more. I'm beginning to realize there's not a perfect answer. That a Sopmod clone is gonna take some time. I'll probably put an MRO on til I save up another $1000 for an acog after I save up $1000 for a Surefire suppressor. It'll be a good while |

Agree, Great reticle and great look on the Eotech. Never had any issues with my EXPS2-0 and regretted sending it back. For $350... a tan EXPS3-0 would be on the way already. I'd do that, if you don't like it you can flip if for a quick $500.

So I finally decided to spray the m4a1.
Before: " /> After: " /> I'm really starting to like this setup more and more, because it can transition from a relatively lightweight block II m4a1, to a kind of medium range sniper/recce setup, relatively quickly. Like so: " /> " /> It's actually not as heavy as it looks, but it's not exactly light either, lol. |

So CMC and CBR I guess the Eotech is the answer. Guaranteed refund and by far the cheapest correct optic. My friend in Socom never had a problem with his so I guess if it's good enough for him it's good enough for me

What I meant is, it's not as heavy as it looks like it should be. It looks like it should weigh a metric-fuck-ton, but then you pick it up and it only weighs about half a metric-fuck-ton, and you're pleasantly surprised. Basically what I'm saying is, it's much better than trying to lug the 24 inch bolt action .308 around, lol. Ideally though, I'd still like some sort of tri-pod setup going on, but for a mini-sniper rifle, it's not all that bad, especially with the bi-pod on there. Just throw in a 20 rounder, deploy bi-pod, and Bob's your auntie. ;) Originally Posted By schaffer:

I don't have an exact block II clone, I have a rail similar to the DD rails seen here. So I call it "block 2 inspired".
With the larger/ wider rail like the DD, is using the Magpul AFG make a difference in terms of ergonomics? I know that the lighter and skinnier rails are the popular thing now and these AFGs have fallen out of popularity too. I am just wondering if they really help or do you guys put them on to stay clone specific? |

Hey guys! I figure I'll throw the upper out there to you fellow cloners before putting it up on the EE.
I have a full Block II upper receiver group. BCM SOCOM Barrel. 14.5". Pinned Surefire 3 Prong Flash Hider. Daniel Defense FDE full RIS II Rail. A2 front sight shaved down and coated with Alumahyde. FDE Daniel Defense QD Sling Front mount. Forget the manufacturer of the upper receiver itself. Only has about 20 rounds through it. Zeroed and made sure it ran. Can throw in a black KAC (P/N: 99051) as well as FDE M3X weapon light and pressure switch. Will post on EE in about a day or so. Not trying to spam the thread either. |
