On a whim I contacted predator tactical to see if maybe they had nos or maybe get lucky and they would have a demo or something....got a reply back that gen 2 mrds offset mounts are available for purchase again as of this week direct from them. I just ordered one about 20 mins ago.

What's the story on the original dd ris, not the ii?

I was able to score a BCM upper with DD 12" Lite rail. how bad would I be looked down on if I use that for a base to build a Block II with? I just couldn't find a RIS II that was in the price range I wanted to spend. I know the Lite rail has an extra bolt on the mounting ring but what else is different between the 2?

Honestly, it wouldn't be a Block II.  The entire basis for a Block II build revolves around the correct RIS II rail.

Thats what I was afraid of! I didnt know they were that different dimension ally. I couldn't pass up the trade I got for the upper so it will just be its own build and not a block 2 type that I was planning. Thanks for the info.

Some new additions
TA31RCO-M150CP
Grip-Pod

Grip-Pod isn't the lightest or best grip but I've qual'd with one before on my army M4 and it helps in the prone supported. Good for dropping to the ground quick pig hunting

That looks nice, in a sea of Block II's covered in FDE parts (mine included), all black with just the FDE rail is a nice change.

Great pic, the RIS II must feel downright svelte compared to the others.  I really don't mind gripping my M4 type DD rail, but the RIS might be more better.

Reposting this as these are from Kuwait early 2015'.  Mk17 and CQBRs belonged to 20th SFGA, the Mk18 Mod 0 belonged to a USCG team there at the time and don't remember who owned the M4.

I ended up buying a TA33 and put it on my Block II:

I know it's not clone correct, but I like the TA33 so much that's what I went with. I've never owned glass as nice as a Trijicon, I'm glad that has been corrected .

The eye relief on those just wasn't working for me, unfortunately.

I'll likely end up getting an EXPS 3 at some point as well, that way I can be clone correct some of the time .

Thanks.

I thought the FSP might be more noticeable, but it doesn't interfere and is pretty clear. It does faintly pick up the FSP, but it's not enough to cause any issues. YMMV.

I'm really liking the GDI mount. I'm glad I got it a couple of weeks back when they were on sale for $40.

Did it exist? I always assumed DD called it the RIS II because of KAC's M4 RIS (predecessor to the KAC M4 RAS and M4 RAS II) but that was always just an assumption on my part.
