Stukas87 used a VCOG so I'd say good enough.

This rail is compatible with a grenade launcher and a suppressor. Getting to borrow this for a couple days and finally get some photos of one with the right Block II stuff. I guess you could argue during the trials of the rail before they passed on it, a WMX-200 wouldn't have been on it.

That was half of my excuse since it's technically clone correct. I should have it tomorrow and will likely go get it zeroed Sunday.

Issued an M4A1 for the 1st time yesterday.  Remade from an original Colt M4.  It does have the M4A1 bbl profile with the side cuts, but no free float rail.

Nope, I don't really shoot NTCH anyways, but the eye relief is way too generous on the VCOG to do that even that far forward.

Marine or Army?

Army is doing a 50/50 conversion to new rifle refresh of their 500,000 M4s to M4A1s.

You should be getting an ambi safety eventually.

Saw some converted M4's with some units out at FHL last week while observing training. Didn't get a real good look at every one of them, but I believe they all had ambi safeties installed.

Should look like this.

Does this mean Block IIs will now have this? Since it is now the standard safety of yhe M4A1?

A lot of them already have for years. Combat_Diver received them for block 2 rebuilds

We've also seen the ambi KAC's on B2's as well. The majority seem to have had the standard Colt selector tho

I saw a stock on the EE that looked just like the one Stukas87 had on his build.  It's like a sopmod but it it is rounded on the bottom.  And has the bottom bar like a CTR, I think it is.  I forget the name but I think it's made by the same people that make the sopmod.....

Wait, I don't know who makes it.....

Proper Magnifier and LA-5 placement that facilitate ease of use
take priority over "back up irons"

Purists and "tactical experts" will loose their mind over this but....
BUIS started to go the way of the DoDo with intro of SOPMOD Block II circa 2007.

Not to mention if the EOTech does go down you can just aim with the center of its window where you knew the reticle once was in a pinch. Then the LA-5's higher than PEQ-15 output on the vis laser also could be used as a backup sighting system.

For those reasons I can easily see why magnifier and LA-5 placement would take priority over BUIS for some.

Does anyone know the screw sizes for the bolt up plate on the riis ii?  I took some measurements, but want to verify.

M5 X 0.8mm x 18
M5 X 0.8mm x 22
but with a 5/32" drive?

Kind of weird.  Can anyone confirm this?

I have noticed that since optics became robust the need for irons has grown to basically zero.

I see less and less being used every day.

I've actually been tempted to take off my Matech BUIS as I just don't ever see them being used since I run a Comp M4.

On top of that I could throw a 3x magnifier behind my M4 if I dropped the BUIS.
