Trying to shoot out to 500meters kinda difficult with only 4 power Elcan short barrel.
Went into 2015 with this switched after 1st fire fight:

With that went back to 14.5 for better ballistics
Its a heavy set-up but worth carrying for average distance I engaged threats 2015; around 300-400 meters.
Also shit canned a weapon light. 1 to cut weight and its Afghans job to go in 1st during building clearing.

SOCOM does need to adopt Trijicon RMR across the board, then guys could mount it on their rifles or their MOS cut Glocks which are standard issue now.

Are Gen. 4 MOS Glocks standard issue, or are they getting a Gen. 3 MOS pistol that Glock is producing specifically for them?

Well last almost 10 years, SF team have been supplemented with GEN III Glock 19's. But lately I saw a buddies (still on a team) Gen 4 MOS cut.
Son also has Gen4 from his unit.

Hate to say it but Pistons are here to stay, name a Tier 1 unit, I bet they got a HK piston gun.

Reason I went with Adams Arms...

Years ago I got to shoot AA, HK and LWRC all back to back for testing.
I liked the AA the best (At the time softest felt recoil)

Since them I became personally interested in Adams Arms
later a sponsored shooter and still love their products.

The only reason I think SF did not go HK piston gun is because at the same time the SCAR in 5.56 was still
being tested and pushed to replace the M4 for SF.
So it stalled the HK for SOCOM wide issue. Now here we are 10 years later looking for a new carbine all the while more and more military units adopt the HK.
example: Marines and the M27. IAR just back door way to get the HK.. smart move Marines.

This is a pic thread I do own 2 DI guns...closest thing to a M4 I own...built via Adams Arms / VooDoo Innovations

I know if you Google search SOCOM's MK27 pistol you will see that it is a GLOCK 19 listed as being able to use a red dot optic so I assume they are specifically referring to the MOS model. Plus someone else here already confirmed an order for like 900+ GLOCK 19 MOS pistols that some branch had on order.

Lol no, Marines are not full fleeting the M27 and the 416 dies faster than the M4 with M855A1, which the Marines are adopting(M855A1).

Why would the Marines fleet a gun that is insanely expensive and breaks more with their new general issue 5.56 round?

I'll ask this, if SOCOM wants the 416 so badly why are they specifying DI for the Block III upgrades? Pistons need not apply and all that?

I can also name 3, tier 1 units that just replaced their 417s with DI KAC/Wilson Combat/LMT AR-10s.

One of those 3, tier 1 units uses a DI AR-15...actually just got a new upgraded version as their general issue rifle.

The SOCOM556-RC is most correct. And you can get them in black or tan for cheaper than the RC2s right now.

All that you posted maybe true
My intent was not to say pistons should be in Block III
Just wanted to provide background why HK416 never made it to a wider issue
MK18 downrange has a excellent performance record of durability

Now....Don't get me started on M855A1 I think the Army messed up with that one.

bought to snag a MK6 3-18 but can't decide on the reticle, used mostly MOA based reticles like the npr2 on my NF scopes but thinking of getting fancy and getting the tremor 3 or the h58/59 etc. cant really decide on moving up to those more busy reticles or sticking to the basics.

Update time.

After having a rather nasty time with someone on the EE ripping me off (there's a whole negative feedback thread about my attempts to replace my DD RIS II FSP with a non-FSP version), I've finally been able to get my Block II back into action.

Here she is:

Decided to change a few things up from my last post. I switched out the 553 for an EXPS 3. I wanted the extra room to add a magnifier. Anyone else running a magnifier? How is the weight? This gun is getting heavy fast. I thought my CQBR was heavy...

Also switched out to another SBR lower. The other one is for my CQBR. Also added the AFG.

I'm also digging the purple Colt upper lol.

Going to try to do something similar to this...

On another note I'm taking the block II a different direction. I like the GDI mount. Great return to zero. But it bugged me that it hadn't been see in the wild ever. I saw this picture of a Block 2 with a larue lt100 and surefire. Great setup and relatively cheap to clone (compared to Elcan and WMX). LT100 inbound and saving up for a m600u

The MK18 should have a larger gas port not smaller.

Hmm, haven't visited this thread in a while and got a quick breather from work.

Got a new FDE RIS II and a lightly used FDE RIS II FSP... debating building both up or selling em off...

Nice rifles nonetheless fellas!

I'm usually not one to call someone out for not 100% clone.  Hell my RIS II is actually black and my set up is rather unconventional/mostly in the wild parts.  However the only thing that looks "clone" in those pics are the rails.

Nice looking rifles for sure but they definitely don't belong here.

IIRC that may be a MARSOC version of a Block II.  Not quite sure though.  Either way it's a beautiful gun.

Between moving, work and working on the new house, I finally got this clone complete minus a sling and Eotech EXPS3. Specs are as follows...

Colt complete LE6920 lower
Colt LE6920 upper
Colt SOCOM profile barrel
Colt M16 BCG
DD RIS II FSP FDE rail
Colt F Marked front sight
VLTOR EMOD
Troy rear sight
Surefire SF3P
Raptor CH

I stripped, media blasted and Cerakoted the upper, lower, receiver extension, castle nut, end plate and front sight post in Patriot Brown which I think looks perfect with this build. I was going to go with a FDE Eotech but looking at it now, I am gonna go with black. Now to the next build I need to finish, Noveske Infidel in Bazooka Green....
