Has anyone ever seen or heard of anyone/armorer's changing out standard trigger guards for  aftermarket, larger ones? Like the magpuls etc? I've seen so many pictures of other aftermarket additions but personally haven't seen one with this little upgrade...

not exactly laying around, but back-orderable.  I've found that Brownells usually comes through with their backorders, might take a while though, depends on the mfr, supply, etc.

The Block II recce is coming together slowly but surely.

Can't wait to get an LPVO on there; it's going to be hard to be patient and save.

Here's what I'm leaning towards right now...

Rush it: Steiner P4xi 1-4X24
Hold out and save moar'er: Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6X24

The Steiner is good glass, but the Razor HD is pretty hard to beat.  I love my Gen IIE.  I also T&E'd a Viper PST Gen II 1-6, you may want to consider it.  Unbelievable optic for the money.

So, if you're willing to settle a little and save cash, PST.  Otherwise save your $$ and get the Razor.  IMHO

The Nightforce NX8 would be sweet, but based on what I've read it doesn't seem like it is significantly better than the Razor HD Gen II E to justify the higher cost. I've not yet held a NF to gather my own firsthand impressions.

I've looked through the two Vortex options, the P4xi, and another brand in that price range. The Razor was def the standout.

I'll second the comments of the PST they have been seen in use and are about 80% of the optic the Razor is. The P4xi is good as well but the price on them seems to be going up to about $600 at which point I would want the more clone correct option which can usually be found NIB for $500 (Viper)

Valid point. I def need to look at each of these optics again - and ideally, side-by-side.

Also you could always go strike eagle

Get this super clone correct scope and mount for the low price of $299 shipped

Or go straight to the geissele 1.93 Mount

Is that a URG from DD? I’m looking at picking one up to forget sending it all off to get pinned/weld and dealing with delays of finding a rail. May be a dumb question but the FSP is taper pinned, correct?

I’ve got to agree

Razor is by far my favorite

Viper 1-6 is 75% of the Razor

Steiner has great glass and illumination but the extra 2x of magnification pits the Viper well above it

I guess I'll post my progress.

Almost complete, still need:

- Coyote SOPMOD
- Warcomp needs pinned and weld
- QD mount for ACOG
- QD sling mounts
- Colt CH on the way, may get a PRI GB or G ACH eventually though

dbal comes from my SBR and just wanted to see how a mid mounted LAM would balance the rifle out. I more than likely will be getting another though for this build instead of a PEQ.

Question for the clone Gods. If a "clone correct" Geissele URGI could be purchased for a fair price wouldn't that be the way to acquire much of the wanted upper parts? Just swap the barrel and rail system...

What's a fair price? I paid $959 shipped for a complete upper. I figure once I sell the 4 prong I'll be sitting alright.

Wouldn't be the correct gas system length.

Probably would be the easiest way to get a 4 prong but thats about it.

Definitely those movements.  This looks like a fairly new “hand” terminal device called the TRS JAWS.

Here’s a YouTube video about it.

In my professional experience, if a person wants to get back to doing things like climbing, hunting, cycling, etc., they’ll put in the effort to get back into it, even if it takes some adaptation to be able to try.

Is that upper receiver not kosher?  I guess I should have been more specific.  The spec list for that upper per Geissele:

SPECS:
Colt M4 Upper Receiver Assembly Looks to be a keyhole colt
Colt M4 Carbine Mil-Spec Bolt Carrier Group Looks correct
Geissele Airborne Charging Handle, DDC Swap for gas buster
Geissele SMR MK16, DDC, 13.5" Swap for RIS II
Daniel Defense 5.56MM 14.5" GOV CHF ML Gas  Swap for 14.5 SOCOM carbine gas
Daniel Defense MK12 .750 Low-Profile Gas Block Looks correct
SureFire SF4P 4 Prong Flash Hider Obviously correct

I'm pretty sure I can find a home for the stuff I would take off that.

P.S.  I hate you guys for even starting me down this rabbit hole.

The actual USASOC issue is a kit, not a complete upper, that includes the new barrel, with the gas block, gas tube, and Geissele barrel nut pre-populated, as well as the hand guard and the charging handle.  These get assembled onto an already issued upper with the current BCG and muzzle device.  G is selling a pre-assembled clone of the proposed clone. The current Colt manufactured uppers have the Colt Cage Code engraved/stamped on them instead of the C marking and the new BCG are not C marked either.

Some of the kits that are supposed to be fielded will be actual upper receiver groups that have been assembled at Crane from existing Block II uppers, but the majority of units will receive the actual upgrade kits for unit armorers to assemble.
