Interesting. USMC? He has the VLTOR stock stolen off a M32A1 but has a what looks like a 4 prong flash hider. I thought USMC was still rocking the NT4.

Put it in the safe and forget about it for awhile.

Some of us take years to get our clones together (myself included).

As far as I've seen only USASOC units are running the DD M4A1 RIS II FSB.  MARSOC runs DD M4A1 RIS II with NT4s.  As far as the stock goes I've replaced them on M4A1s as I can get them as replacements for the Mk14 (what SOCOM calls the M32A1)

I had the nightforce 1.5 rings which werent bad but with a scope that has a long eye relief there was only so far you could go forward without crossing the gap.

Which weight buffer are you guys running on your M4A1 SOPMOD Block IIs? Since my build started out as a 10.3" and then I built it up as a 14.5", I had a Colt carbine spring and Colt H2 buffer that I carried over. Wasn't sure if I should scale back to an H1 or if it doesn't matter.

C-marked 14.5 SOCOM with F-marked FSB
Cage Code upper
C-marked BCG
Colt CH

Debating Block 1/1.5 or Block 2 FSP since I have both KAC RAS and DD RIS II FSP.  I have a SF3P on side.

What are you trying to do with it?

I've built both and leaned towards B1/1.5 based on weight.
Socom profile with a Fsp RisII makes for a heavy girl up front. Especially if your adding lasers/lights.
(At least to me)

However, a Ris ii equipped rifle does look cooler.

My block II conquest has begun.  I've got a SOCOM barrel with the FSB, which I plan on pulling off.  How much of a pain is it to drill dimples for the Mk 12 gas block?

This has been covered before. You don't need dimples. They only help in aligning the gas block, not in strengthening in. At least that's been the consensus. Especially when the gas block is covered by the rail. Or you could keep the FSB and get the RIS II FSP.

Easy, slide your gas block on the barrel.  Take a thin paintbrush or toothpick with a dap of paint and mark position.  Remove gas block and drill dimple.  Never did it that way however.  I use a deadlined gas block (gas tube pin and gas port on same side) and routed a 2x4 to serve as my jig.  Then drill thru the deadline gas block to dimple, never had one slip off.

Thanks CD.  Acquired a Matech rear sight yesterday.  Now all I need is the rail, 4 prong, upper, bolt group, lpk, and a 4 position receiver extension. So, I'm pretty much there

Throw some Birchwood Casey Alumablack on it to touch up the silver areas. I posted some links to some Colt LPK's in the Colt industry section.

Not clone correct.  The Surefire SF3P-556-1/2-28 is acceptable as its the closest to the SF4P.

What is the most common optic seen on the block ii fsp?

I’m thinking about aimpoint, vortex, leupold, or nightforce.

Which nightforce scopes are correct and what are the correct mounts for them?

Thanks in advance.
