I suspect that most of what MTM sells is made in China and there's been no production there for a few months. So, they are running out of inventory. @TheLASwamp FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED SINCE 1968 MTM Case-Gard™ is family owned and operated since 1968. MTM strives to be innovative in our approach to the shooting sports. All of our products were either designed by one of us, as a solution to a problem we encountered, or because you, the Case-Gard user, suggested it. The results are innovative quality products that last! We know because we use them. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you! 3370 Obco Court Dayton, Ohio 45414 937.890.7461 |

I thought @obiwanbonjovi made a great post using various ammo cans for mag storage. I picked up some PA120 cans and they do work great. a little heavy. https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Ammo-and-mag-storage/16-752645/ |

Manufacturer site for reference (assuming I can link it with a new account): http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/about.html Thats pretty cool actually. I have countless, and I do mean countless, MTM ammo boxes to store ammunition as well as some of their cans and crates. I love em. Good quality products for decent prices. |

I've been buying the hell out of MTM's 50 Cal can combo that comes with four 100 round 223/5.56 ammo boxes. $29.49 on Sale at Midway. The case-gard 100's sell for $5.50 a piece, meaning the can is costing you only $7.50. A bargain in today's market since Midway sells the can alone for $13.00 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1009919346?pid=943640 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1564120930 https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1564262075 |

I thought the issue was eating feed ramps and not feeding issues? My understanding is that the feedramp issue was significantly overblown based on misinterpretation of some testing that was done at Fort Bragg. Many people probably recall seeing photos of M4 feedramps that showed marks on and below them that were reported as gouging of the metal caused by M855A1. I don't remember the whole story, but I recall that the senior NCO involved in the testing (an Infantry master gunner) came out later and said that people had misunderstood their findings. It seems like there's a notable lack of any information about feedramp damage after that initial report several years ago, other than what keeps getting repeated in forums like this. This article is an example someone with real world experience shooting lots of M855A1 who has not see that kind of damage. That could be attributed to using correct magazines, but as this article points out, there doesn't seem to be any additional evidence beyond the original report. Note the section entitled "One Report Several Times Over," which talks about how all the online references point to the original feedramp photos from the first report: M855A1 5.56mm NATO Penetrator Ammo Feed Ramp Issues: Real, Hype or just Overblown? It certainly makes sense that the hard penetrator could be causing damage, or at least faster wear, to the feedramps, but it seems like that isn't really playing out in practice. Having said all that, it does sound like it's a legitimate issue for Marine Corps M27 IARs, which apparently have a slightly different geometry in the feed ramp area. My understanding is that they've mitigated the issue using M3 PMAGs with their higher feed angle, but I'm not familiar enough with that system or their data involving M855A1 to know for sure. |

i'm a fan of consolidation and fully utilizing space, that's why the pelican 1200 case example is so great. zero wasted space i also would never buy or keep a product that i wouldn't use more than a few times a month. unless it was a kind of insurance/back up like medicine, fire extinguisher, a side arm, knives, tools etc therefore 30+ magazines would be overkill imo. what am i gonna do? engage in a firefight with the entire criminal population in my city? furthermore, it's going to be a bunch of magazines that will never be used and just sit there like wasted money. i want most of my assets to be fully liquid with a backup reserve in bitcoin and stocks a handy box of 10 full loaded magazines that i can grab and go is honestly a great solution. not too big or heavy, but enough to be prepared for anything. if we're being realistic, you don't even need a home, you can just live in an suv with a mattress in the back with your guns, a laptop. park at starbucks to use their internet. go to bathroom and shower at ymca/homeless shelters, etc |

16 inches be damned...
| I store magazines in Pelican cases. For instance, 40 30rd Pmags will fit in a 1520, 10 USGI style in a 1200, and 170 30rd Pmags in a 1650. I can also get 15 CZ P10C 15rd magazines in a 1200, 6 Bulgarian AK waffle 30rd magazines in a 1200 as well. Expensive yes, but certainly durable containers for magazine storage. |

I see most people are storing USGI mags Would be great to have some more Pmag options If anyone has weight on these cans loaded, that would be great too. I like the idea of storring 40+ mags, but with the can and mags, thats closing in on 40lbs, not exactly super portable, but it would be great if someone could weigh the cans filled. |

The usgi vs Pmag wasn't a riff at anyone, but I suspect that I may be the minority here. I have maybe 15 USGI or other metal mags total, by far, the vast majority of my stash is Pmags. |

But if I'm thinking I'll grab a few cases and run for a quick range session or whatever, and 40-50lbs, there may be better options for organization. I have some Esstac 10 mag pouches, and they work great, stack up in the safe and easy to hand someone a bag and send them off to the truck. Even my 6 year old daughter can carry 2 of them |
