Which "Colt Style" 9mm Magwell Insert is considered to be the best ? Which one would you buy ? |
| I've been looking at these myself a little bit. I currently have two endomags. They work fine but I don't shoot the 9mm enough to be able to speak on longevity. The other magwell conversions that I've seen for Colt are pretty much the same except some have different methods of "snugging" the fit up within the magwell with set screws and what not. |

First of all, I assume you are referring to a straight blowback build. If that is the case bear in mind that the MEAN Endomags / Exomags come in two varieties. 1. Ejector version - for straight blowback with the PLASTIC ejector being part of the mag body. This requires you to leave the mag in the gun to clear a live round. IMHO, that is an AD waiting to happen and I wouldn't go that route as it also changes the manual of arms. 2. Ejectorless version which relies on the ejector in the upper like the CMMG RDB or MEAN's bearing delay upper. I've used a few different, good quality but no longer made mag well adaptors over the last few decades and none beat a dedicated lower. What I see marketed now for adaptors, I wouldn't waste my money on. Just a few weeks ago PSA had thier roll mark colt mag complete lower for $199, no clue when these will be back in stock. If you want nicer roll marks, H&R stripped lowers are around $240-260 for black, Grey is a little cheaper. For a long time l ran a hahn dedicated top inserting magwell adapter that fit inside a standard ar lower. This allowed me to use colt style stick mags. I used asc and metalform 32rd mags. This was with a direct blowback upper. Worked great for me but l have since moved on and sold all the parts. |
