| I have an extra lower that I wanted to install an FRT in but it's a high shelf. Co-worker has the jigs to mill it down but will there be a problem going through the anodizing and having bare aluminum in that area of the receiver? I'm going to also SBR this receiver so I don't want any issues down the road. |

| Interesting thing about alodine versus anodizing. Alodine preserves conductivity, anodizing acts as an insulator. In aircraft with low observable characteristics maintaining electrical conductivity between all the mating parts is important, so alodine is preferred, even though it is less corrosion resistant. |

It was never more than a thin surface treatment that removed easily as does most acidic cold blues. Just look at the sheets for the products. Just maybe one additional acid away from one popular steel cold blue that just leaves a thin surface finish. Easily rubbed off from what I have experienced. |

Always used on freshly exposed raw aluminum before any oxidation had a chance to take hold. But yeah, it never was anything more than a fairly temporary solution. It's definitely in the near worthless category these days unfortunately. |
| Aluminum Black was never intended to be used as a replacement for a surface finish. It is intended as a touch-up for small nicks or scratches in the existing finish. It works great as something than makes a 90% gun look 95% in pictures on Gunbroker, but that's about it. |
