As previously mentioned, try backing the diopter adjustment on the eyepiece out two turns, this should really help the 1x. |

That WEAVER might not have the tactibilly look, but it's a very nice scope. Field of view at 100 yards is 87 ft. wide enough that when I hold the rifle at low ready, I can see the HG and muzzle brake. and it's a true 1x, which means you can shoot both eyes open, like an Aimpoint. |

This was exactly my early impression of it. I was also glad to find a spare battery under the windage cap. Mine arrived today, with a scope mount for my M1A Loaded I'll see if I can put it on and post a range report for how it holds up on a 7.62 MBR. |

Anyone have a reticle pic at 1x and 4x when mounted on a carbine with a fixed FSB in place?

What gives? I cant find the CAA scope mount on AIM or anywhere else.
D'you guys buy them all out? |

Same question here, or at least how does the post show in the scope. Thanks. |

I just mounted my DMS-1 on my flat top Bushmaster yesterday. at 1X the front sight post is a blurry outline, at 2X it is not visible. I used the Larue SPR-E mount

I just got more of the DVSR mounts in and just shipped a bunch, so i think allot of guys are trying this combo,

I really like the DMS-1. I put it in a SPR mount but think it needs the SPR-E.
One question -- do ALL these illuminated reticle scopes allow the reticle to be seen from the front? Or do some use different technology? When the DMS-1 is pointed right at you the reticle shines just as brightly as if you were behind it. As for washing out in bright light -- I took it out into the 2pm California sun into my garden that has a lot of variety of backgrounds -- from dead grass to green hedges, bamboo, etc. I also took my Aimpoint Comp-ML3 (2MOA) and Eotech 553. First test was aiming at the sky -- you never know, you might want to have an Iraqi-style celebration with aimed fire. * Aimpoint Comp-ML3 had to be at 9/10 or 10/10 for the dot to remain visible. * Eotech 553 easily visible at level 10/16 and higher. * DMS-1: The illumination was not visible on 11/11 On the dry grass * Comp-ML3 had to be at level 9/10 or higher to be easily visible. * Eotech 553 had to be at level 10/16 or higher to be easily visible. * DMS-1: illumination not visible on level 11/11 On the hedge/foliage/buildings * Comp-ML3 had to be at 7/10 or higher * Eotech 553 had to be at 10/16 or higher * DMS-1: had to be at 9/11 for illumination to be visible, 11/11 to be useful In short, on a day like today I would crank an Aimpoint all the way to 10/10 and be fine for anything, crank the Eotech 553 up to 12/16 and be GREAT for anything, and crank the DMS-1 up to 11/11 and not count on using it like an Aimpoint. The Eotech 553 just dominates the visibility tests. A 4MOA Aimpoint dot probably would have helped it somewhat. Indoors with daylight illumination the DMS-1 can be used like an Aimpoint at level 6 or higher. Indoors at 8/11 or higher the DMS1 will not wash out even when my recently-modded 150-lumen Gladius is pointed at a white wall. When the DMS-1 washes out you are left with a black reticle. Kind of like the ACOG in that regard. |

A friend of mine and I have a couple of these on back-order. He was told that Millet makes them in batches of 150, and our current vendor has over 600 backordered! Anybody have an idea of how long on average it's taking Millet to get these made and shipped out? I can't wait to get mine!

One thing to keep in mind is there is a black reticle there too... washing out the illumination on a DMS-1 doesn't mean you have lost aiming, unlike an aimpoint or eotech where illumination is the only "reticle" there is. |
Agreed -- it just looses the Aimpoint-like usage.

I received my DMS1 from Midway yesterday. Mounted it on my wife's Dissy on a JP mount for a test. Everything looks good. The sight takes a bit of getting used to, no big deal. Just have time for about 40 rounds at 50 yards. Zero is easy. I think I am going to like this thing.
At home I notice an imperfection like a chip on the glass. Rats. I now see more little bubble like patterns on the glass. It appears to be inside the tube. No longer a happy camper. I will call Millett on Monday. There is another thread on this site now regarding folks having similar problems, apparantly with a recent batch of scopes. Mine is on the way to Millett. |

hey all i have an A2 upper right now....
i like it and dont plan on changing it very soon.. is there a good way to mount this on an A2 upper? i know its not ideal but its what i have to work with right now... thanks in advance |
Not really. If you mount it on the carry handle, the eye relief will be too short. If you mount it forward of the carry handle, the eye relief will be too long. Buy a flat-top receiver. |

i dont have bottomless pockets..... this system worked for how long before the 90's??? i dont have to be prefect it just has to work......... |

sorry double tap.

You could get some handle-mount rings, and suffer like it's the 90's... |

Define "worked" as used in this sentence. Truth is that they didn't work well at all. Sure people did it, but so what? Buy cheep, buy twice. But sadly, you won't evan be buying cheep. JMHO, but I think it's a loosing battle. |
No there's not. Even if you could, you'd end up with a height over bore of like 5 inches probably which will cause you some sightin-ballistics problems. It's not really workable. Stripped flat top upper is like $85. |

anybody mentioned the correct sizes for the Buttler Creek caps ?
thanks |

02A for the objective and #20 for the eye |
With such a small objective lense, how is the light transmission in low light levels?
It's fine. I big objective lens isn't needed on a 1-4 scope. I ran around in the dark last night, I could easily spot individual corn stalks 300 hundred yards away. The only (minor) issue is the Luminated reticle is almost TOO bright a setting "1". |

I just got to handle a Gen 2 DMS-1 at a 3-Gun Match this weekend. I am sold.
For $200 the glass is clear enough. Lets face it, this is not a scope that you are going to be laying behind for hours on end. I will definitly be picking one up for 3-gunning. Hitting 12" steel at 250-300 yards with a 4 MOA Aimpoint is not exactly fast. I REALLY like the Reticle on the DMS-1 The little 1 MOA dot was razor sharp, and illumination was not needed in the bright sun. The test will be on how quick it is at CQB ranges. I realize that the 1x is not a "true" 1x, but when mounted in a LaRue SPR on a rifle with a FSB, where does the shadow of the FSB fall? Is it in the middle of the sight picture, or in the lower 1/3? I can probably handle lower 1/3, but if it's in the middle, then I am going to have to spring for a folding FS first. |

I had a 20HBAR A1 Bushmaster with a 3.5-10x on the carry handle something like COLTS DELTA Man it shot just fine For me up close you just got to know how it shoots You can buy a AMS # 2 SCOPE Mount PLUS RINGS I used rrREGULAR rings since its just a 223/5.56 rifle It wasnts a bad set up at all |

you DEFINITELY need to get a special moutn for these, by the way.
For me, the eyepiece has to be on top of the shell defector. BUT once it's there, and the dipoter is right, I can truly say I have a 1x sight at 1x. It works perfectly. Presently I have it in PRW rings and risers, but both rings are between the eyepiece and the turrets to give me the eye relief I have. I dont' intend to shoot it like that though and have the CAA mount inbound. Just wanted to see where I needed to put it. |
There is but one truth in the world and it is all yours. If you are not sure of it stay at home; but if you are sure don't look back and it will be your way.
So you have been able to get it so that the FSB is in focus? I guess that is about the best indicator of "true" 1x.

on 1x I wouldn't say the front sight is focussed... good point. I will say that on 1xm objects in a hypothetical urban landscape outside my hypothetical window are exactly the same size on the left and right eye with the right eye on teh scope. For CQB ranges, the front sight is a huuuuge nuisance on 1x, it is there and pretty clear on my 20" A2 using PRW rings on YHM risers. Could I read print you soldered onto the rear of the FSB - if I change the diopter yeah. Could I tell you who made the front sight post... nope |

My scope is on the way, is anyone using a GGG 1198 Accucam for their mount? Im torn between the LaRue & the ggg.

Is weight much of a concern with this optic? Midway USA lists it at 18 oz, I don't have much knowledge for weights of optics, is this quite heavy?
There is absolutely no question. The LaRue mount is the way to go. |
