Wasn't the Colt sales thing some sales dude at one shop getting an email saying 'reduced supply due to filling/going after .gov contracts and they went "ZOMG NO MORE CIVVI SALES GUN CONTROL TIME BOYS" or some such?

Apologies if it's already been discussed.

Frankly, I hadn’t thought of Colt or EOTech in ages. Literally just happened to see that article scroll across my Facebook feed this morning. Made me think of some of the old Coltards of yesteryear that I used to “banter” with.

Colt lower but it has an aimpoint on it... hopefully that slows the aneurysm.

According to AU, it's a temporary thing - probably 60 days. Colt is only able to produce about 700 rifles daily and they need full production capacity to meet a deadline on a foreign military contract or face penalties. It seems that a single RSR Group rep misunderstood the notice from Colt and went into meltdown mode. From what I understand, RSR fired the rep.

So like, what's your point?  That no one should be willing to make clones/near clones of the MK18?  Besides that, I think that the 10.3" URGI is accepted here too.

Yeah, it was to focus on gaining/maintaining contracts. Once that's going smoothly, then they'll return to .civ sales.

Awesome, congrats! What was your cash date?

If it's solely for a Block I, then I suppose black probably makes the most sense. For me, I just don't shoot my Block I enough for it to justify an NT4 by itself. But a shared taupe NT4 between a B1 and B2... why that seemed eminently practical :D.

I'll take that brand new used NT4 for a discount off you to help you fund a black one.

But for reals, I think it looks good, and I like the contrast, it will grow on you buddy, don't you worry I promise! Also once you put a few rounds down, it won't matter! I mean if it still bothers you, you might need to build a Coyote Tan/Taupe/FDE Rifle around it, never hurts to give yourself an excuse to add another one to the stable.

If the all-black with taupe bugs you, I'd just go Block 1.5 and sprinkle in some FDE two-tone goodness. Looks good either way.

ETA: Or, hell... just send it to Capitol Armory or similar for a recoat. Not like an extra $60 is that big of a deal compared to the NT4 investment.

Check cashed on 12/5 and approved on 9/11. The NT4 is only going on my MK18 Block 1, M4 Block 1, and CAG MRE clone. So black would have made more sense. Oh well.

i have only been here for about a year and a half, but reading the thousand or so pages i guess it sure does feel like the "classic" mk18 thread

at least 500 of the ~1200 pages are arguments

To be fair, there is this: https://adsinc.com/past-performance/usscom-bolt-barrel-kit/

Seems to me this is fairly conclusive proof DD barrels have been used in some capacity or another. Unless ADS is lying, which I doubt, they delivered 1,407 DD 10.3" barrels to Crane; whether they've been fielded or they're sitting in a depot somewhere, I have no idea.

Personally, I have a mild preference for DD barrels over Colt. Simply put, they are great barrels; being CHF, they probably last a bit longer, they're accurate and they have properly polished feed ramps without any Dremel monkey action. Very little not to like. That said, I'd use either one. I have a bunch of DD 10.3" barrels and I got them at a great price buying DD Mk18 URGs, so it's far more convenient for me to use them. Whether the above link proves they're "correct" or not isn't a huge motivating factor for me. But if they are, more's the better.

That being said, if DD barrels still had the old .082" gas port, I wouldn't use them. Gotta draw the line somewhere ;D.

ETA: Beat sorta... same info, different link ;p.

That fat chick was my ex (ballooned up after the ink on the marriage cert dried) and once she realized that the walrus was swimming laps and giving her the hairy eyeball whilst stroking his enormous johnson, she was none to happy.

The asian lady who screeched, covered her 9-ish year olds eyes and shoved the kid out of the observation room was the icing on the cake.

Aaahhh, the memories.
