I was yesterday years old when I learned what a "Tanodized" 99051 taupe sight is.
I didn't know 🤷🏼‍♂️
Now I just got another one in the mail today, and it's another color... Deep brown/green with a lil salt and at some point someone marked it with a paint marker. 🤨

Hi Guys, I've been out of the loop for a while.

Are units still using the MK18 over the URGI? Which ones?

I'm assuming you're referring to the Mk18 Mod 1/URG, MARSOC, NSW and some are still in NG SF Groups.  While we have a few theater spare (reserve weapons) Mk18 Mod 0s, don't know anyone using them.

Block II CQBR with EXPS, surefire scout, and 4 prong.

Airforce likes to use m300v common to find them in RM45 mounts.

USASOC went w/ the m640v

Attachment Attached File

MARSOC has been using the m600v for awhile

Anyone thought of using one of the

PSA H&R M16A1 lowers

for a mk18 mod 0 / block I CQBR build?

Any idea if these would be "correct" or not?

Crane did use M16A1 lowers for Mk18 Mod 0 guns.  So, possible be clone correct.  Again semi lowers are going to be acceptable since we can't get full auto lowers.  I have used PSA M4A1 lowers for my Mk18 clones.

In all my years have only seen two M16A1 lowers on Mk18 Mod0.  Those were both Colts.  All the other Mk18 Mod0 (about 30+) used Colt M4A1 lowers.  So, No on an H&R but it is possible.

Don’t raz me too hard - starting to explore a mod0 build
What optics are acceptable? Is a PRO close enough to a m2?

More importantly, what’s an AVAILABLE, acceptable mount?

Is a sf3p acceptable? I don’t have an RC/RC2 (just a socom mini) but was the Sf3p ever seen on the mod0?

Is the CQD sling mount mandatory? Are there other acceptable options?

1. Aimpoint Pro is very close to the Comp2 M68 and acceptable, the caps are different but can be replaced

2. The Wilcox or QRP Mount is what you need

3. You want either a KAC NT4, A2 Birdcage, or SF4P (No SF3Ps)

You don't have to use a CQD people mainly buy them for aesthetics now because there's much better alternatives, I used a Colt Side Swivel for the front and a QD into the Sopmod stock for the rear.

JMHO: CQD end plate mounts suck!  I was issued a single left side mount one and took it off after handling the M4 for 30 minutes.  It dug into my thumb and the sling hardware interfered with the safety during transition/up drills.  That's my experience, others may be different.

I've gotten one that was a weird grey color that somehow slipped QC. It was supposed to be FDE.

KAC swapped it out for me, but maybe I should have kept it.

Good to know!

Does everyone pay $180 for the Wilcox mounts or is there a solid source?

In this case the product listing is simply inaccurate. Daniel Defense barrels would clearly be marked as such. Instead, those appear to be cut down Colt barrels produced by NSWC Crane. Here's a pic from Combat_Diver showing the same label on the rebuild kits he's received in the past. (The other barrel is a SOCOM profile FN.)

Much love to OnyxArms, but you should know the same barrels are currently available for less at Littlebyrd Procurement and Wet Worx Outfitters. However, neither have them in the sealed bag. So the price can still be justified if that's important to you.

Well, being clone correct matters more to me than the bag. Was really looking forward to a DD barrel as I have one on my 14.5 URGI and have been very pleased with it. I have a DD 10.3 pinned gas block barrel I was going to use when I found his. To me the cut down crane would be more correct. I'm going to reach out to Onyx and see what they say. I'll be returning one, i guess. I appreciate the other links too, now I'm eyeing some tear drop F/As and the cut down Colt SOCOM barrel.

edited to add:

Much love to Onxy so far too. Usually get some good kit from them. In the same order I got one of their colt uppers and it came cage coded square as opposed to the keyhole with no colt marking I got from Midway, in case anyone was looking for some.

I think Thoroughbred is the only one whose sold surplus Crane 10.3 barrels.

They look exactly like the one CD posted, and have two white dots on them, one near the gas port, and one near the base.

Nobody is really capable of anodizing FDE consistently, it's just the nature of it.

FN had the worst time with the SCAR.

So the number on CD’s label matches the number on the lable I received. I tried searching it in Haystack (logistics tool for DOD) and can’t find anything NSN/PN/NIIN wise. DD got back to me saying it isn’t theirs after looking at pictures, which could make sense if Crane did the work on them.. Onyx received them from DLA in a package marked DD. I’m wondering if this is a case of government supply chain SNAFU.
