EDIT:  damn, top of page and I posted a crappy tater pic.
FINALLY........11 months after "buying" the black can, the stamp arrives.
CQBR on the left...it's black half brother in 300 on the right.

I'll try to redeem myself. Pic of 30 caliber 4 prong to mount 300 SPS

I don't have NODs yet but I'm liking the EOTech on the riser anyway, for the reasons stated further above in the thread. My main reason though - I've been wanting to run a riser after I shot NV passively with just my EXPS; higher is better if you need to see the reticle in place of actively illuminating everything. I've got plans for NODs..just haven't got there yet.

What risers are you guys running?

I'm using the Knights Armament scope ring adapter - long version, p/n 98053.

Similar decision, back to the EXPS from the Elcan 1-4x. Elcan was sweet, but more optic than I needed really...

A riser also lets you run with the stock more collapsed. For those of us that run car stocks it's a pretty nice way to be able to run them fully collapsed.

Me and Clone got the idea off a certain someone in this thread who pointed out that 1st SFOD-D uses the Wilcox risers on their hk416's. When shooting under NODs it's like a heads up display. Very usefull. Plus, if you're enemy has NV, you don't give your position away as much as you would with IR lasers. (Apparently everyone and their mother beat me to this, lol)

Speaking of, I just ordered that Wilcox riser a few days ago. The 416 has officially begun! Muhahahaha...

Edit: Also; Clone, we need to shoot more, dude.

In my experience, the Tactical Machining are some of the best. Any A2 will do....unless you are doing a mk18 and want an A1, in which case a NoDakSpud is THE one to get.

We used to have a guy (now retired) that had glommed onto an A1-based CQBR...and refused to let it go.  I can't remember the exact optic he had (a small ACOG IIRC) mounted on the carry handle, but he insisted that it was the best setup for "heads-up" shooting.

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is an "official" case like the MK12 has with the 1700, but lots of folks either use the 1600 (or even the 15xx) and transport broken down, or the 1700.  I just picked up an older 1600 specifically to carry two MK18's myself.

Here's the don't scratch my rifle version...

And here's the dump and go version, which is similar to what I do.

And a 1700 also for reference...

Questions for the group...

Originally I was going to clone an M4 SOPMOD Block I with my Colt in the pic below (has a Colt 14.5 URG with a BCM A2X pinned by Adco). I have a mint Aimpoint CompM2 and a new Wilcox Aimpoint Comp M mount (when combined, becomes the Enhanced Combat Optical Sight - Navy, or ECOS-N) en-route and then I was going to be done. But then...Mk18 Mod 0 14.5. With an A1 grip, LMT fixed rear sight, and a CQD rear sling attachment, would I be in the clear in terms of clone acceptableness for the Mk18 Mod 0 14.5? That is a Surefire M951 on there, and while kosher for the M4 build, does it get a pass on the Mk18?

You know I rely on you guys heavily to keep me on the straight and narrow, so thanks in advance!

On another note, I'm digging the standard Colt M4 stock on my Block II build. Feels so svelte. Plus, in this configuration it's essentially a MARSOC build, right?

For a Mk 18 Mod 0 14.5" - I think you'd need an A1 lower receiver to be fully in the clear, but I may be wrong.

Just remember...........you can always strip it if it isn't to your liking. Plus once you press the nozzle, it becomes increasingly easier to follow though with.

Just used that Mk18 lower to test a 14.5" upper I'd just assembled IIRC.  But then its the Navy and they screw up the nomenclature system.  Might be back building guns for SOCOM at the beginning of the year somewhere else down range but again dealing with these protesters in ND keeps me very busy.

North Dakota? What, do you work for TigerSwan or something now?

Anyway; Moonlight is best light.

</a>" />

Seriously, I took that pic about a week ago, and it was so bright out I probably could have gotten a tan. Shit was cray cray. No flash with a cell phone camera, with the only major light source coming from 93 million miles away, and then reflecting off an object 238,900 miles away (of which apparently has the reflectivity equivalent to asphalt). The universe never ceases to amaze.

</a>" />

Also, no need to fret anymore little-ones, I shall be attempting to finish a few 80% lowers, of which at least one will be more clone correct than that pos DD.

Sure.

Just as long as you cut that barrel down to 10.3.

The problem with that is: he'd have to re-profile the barrel under the handguard, too. LMT uses a heavier profile than government profile. Better to just cut down a Colt 14.5 or 16.1 barrel if you're going to a get done a bunch of barrel work.

If you get the LMT 10.5, just run it as is and enjoy.

Yeah, but if he already has a LMT, it would probably be cheaper to just cut it down. I got my 16 inch cut down to 14.5 for like 60 bucks. And if he has a LMT, it doesn't seem like he's terribly concerned with being 100% clone correct, especially considering he'd be the only one who'd know about the barrel profile.

Originally I wasn't  concerned with being 100%.  I was able to get it for a good price about two years ago.  At the time I wasn't even thinking MK18 build.  Just that it was an upper receiver for my SBR.  I was always under the impression that LMT was providing them to the Military for the build but somehow I must be mistaken.

Yep, this. I paid $40 locally to have a 10.5 cut down to 10.3. No one would know about the contour under the handguards.
