Build in progress. 450BM with 18" barrel. The stock birdcage is almost assuredly not up to the task of getting recoil down to a comfortable level. However,
the thread pattern is 5/8x32 which seems to be difficult to find in the more well known and reviewed brakes. So if anyone has a 450, or 458 Socom and has
has a brake they found effective which comes in 5/8x32 tpi slap the info on me please.

I see  Tromix has a 4-port brake. Anybody got experience with it?

Tromix makes both the 4 port brake and linear brake for the 450/458. They offer 5/8x32 thread pitch.

I have tromix 4 port and radial brakes and the work great.  If you needed 5/8x24 I have an extra.

I removed the break, put it in my parts drawer and put a flash hider on my 458 Socom. The noise was much too bad under cover at the range. Recoil from 458 Socom is not that bad, compared to 375 H&H Winchester, Winlight 300 Weatherby, Winlight 300 Winchester, or even Winlight 30-06.  I guess it is what you are used to :-). I'm 64 years young and your mileage may vary.

Are you sure its 5/8-32?  Most 450bushmaster are 11/16.

NVM.  Found a couple uppers with 5/8-32 threads.

Yea it is loud.  I was shooting my 10.5 the other day.  Guy next to me complained to the range nazi.  They said something about how loud it was but left me alone.

The Tromix breaks do reduce recoil.   If you don't want the extra noise get a linear comp.  Bit more expensive but directs the noise downrange.

I have the tromix brake on my 18in 450bm. It was loud and did a great job reducing recoil. Last year I put the gun on a diet and to save a little weight I removed the last two ports on the end of the brake. Same recoil reduction, but it seemed to cut down on the noise and concussion quite a bit. I've killed 3 deer with it this year with no ear pro on and my ears weren't ringing for the rest of the day like they used to. Or I'm going deaf, either one.

We carry the Linear, Tank, Radial, and 4-Port all in 5/8-32 45 caliber, in both stainless and black finish.

I’ve got a Bowers FHB on my .458 barrel. It uses the same mounts as the silencers, of which there are around 20 different thread pitches available. (This one happens to be 5/8-32).

It works well, but so far I mostly shoot with the silencer in place.

Kaw Valley makes a linear comp in that thread. I'm waiting for them to make the 11/16 version sometimes soon for mine. Have read good things about their products.
