New guy checking in. I've been lurking for a while and finally have time to post. I purchased my first AR in April of 2013 when the panic was high and unfortunately, it ended up being a bushmaster carbon 15, as this was all the LGS had at the time. Since finding this site and educating myself, I have built 2 PSA rifles for my dad & brother and just bought a 300 blackout DB upper for my next build. This site has taught me a lot about the AR platform and I really appreciate the vast knowledge provided here that supports my new addiction! Thank you!

Hi everyone, just dropping by to introduce myself. I have been and avid AK guy and decided to add something new to my collection so I bought myself a DMPS Tac2 last night on clearance and deep discount for my Xmas present. Looking forward to modding this thing to my likes.

Hello all, nice place you have here. I'm new to this site as well as new to the AR platform. I just ordered my first rifle setup! Take a look and let me know if I made a good choice. I got a Palmetto rifle kit and one of their blemished lowers to go with it. Guess all I need now is magazines and lots of ammo

Hello Matt from Evanston Wyoming. I just ordered my RRA Elite Operator 2 it's supposed to be here thursday. I'm not new to guns but I am to the AR. Lots of good info here.

Hello, I have learned a lot from this forum and I went and made a purchase.
I was wondering what people thought of this gun and what I should be looking for in optics if I plan to shoot things in the 50-100 yard range? It has the magpul grip, stock and quad rails in od green. It doesn't really seem like I need anything besides the optics to enjoy this... But let me know if I am missing anything. I just plan to add some more pmags The price was $600 after shipping and transfer fee. Seemed like a good value for excellent condition. I gravitated towards Smith because of the great reliability that I have had with the M&p handgun. (good customer service too) Thanks for the dialogue Jeff

Stop by the Optics forum and do a lot of reading. You will get all kinds of opinions on what works best when it comes to sights. In the meantime, master the iron sights you have on the rifle. Then you can really nail down what you truly want to do with the rifle, and what might work best for you. |

| Hey all! Just wanted to get an early intro in. I just purchased my first AR, a Colt LE6940. I pick it up this afternoon, and can not be any more excited! A little background on myself, I am a 25 year old, mech engineer at a company that actually manufactures gun components. So it only seems right, to own a gun while working with guns! haha Well I can already see this site is loaded with tons of info. Hi,
I'm new to the site, but not so new to ARs. I bought my one and only 15 - 20 years ago and am still shooting it. It's pretty old school I guess, a fully stocked Olympic Arms rifle. It's plenty accurate and a blast to shoot. 
I have no intention of getting rid of it, but am looking for another that is a little more up-to-date. Thinking a carbine, close quarters kind of machine. I like the Daniel Defense V7. There are a couple local dealers that carry them and they seem to have a pretty good reputation on this forum. I've also seen some Black Rain carbines locally, but haven't seen much about them on this site. Are they worth a look? How do they compare with others in that price range? Any info anyone has would be appreciated. Looking forward to spending some time here. Lots of information to digest, definitely going to keep me busy for awhile. Wayne |

I registered in September of 2013 but have posted very little. I'm more of a lurker as I'm just getting back into the AR platform. I bought a Colt carbine in '85 but had to sell it a few years later (I found out just how expensive kids can be) Anyway I was shooting AK's for a few years. Then on a trip to the range my buddy brought his AR. I ran a few mags through it and I was hooked again. So I did some research and bought a Core 15 carbine about a year ago. The rifle has been and awesome shooter. I am pretty OCD about cleaning it after a trip to the range. I want to run 1000 through it without cleaning. I don't know if I can go that long though. I love shooting it! If anyone here is from the N.E. area of Ohio and shoots out at AA drop me a line. I'm new here because I found this site few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying the wealth of knowledge here. I just purchased my first AR, although I don't have it yet but in 10 days I will.  I'm glad to be here and soaking all this inn. It feels like I'm a kid at a candy store with this site

Not "new" here as I posted years ago about getting a gun for my dad but since the site considers me new when I go to post I will still consider myself "new" to the site. I have had ARs before and am quite proficient with iron sites (can shoot sub moa with the right gun) but I am hoping to be a little more active this time around as I have learned a ton from this site in the past before having to become very familiar with the AR15/M4 platform.
I just picked up another gun, I got it used for a once in a lifetime price from a dealer on a gun auction site most everybody knows about. I didn't expect to get another AR but when it was selling for less than the pistol I was wanting I had to bite. This is the Spikes Black Assassin, specs HERE: I bought it with the Magpul AFG, Ergo magwell grip, magpul sling plate, single point sling, and an AAC pinned/welded muzzle brake, and ladder rail covers added on top of the standard gun. I added my TLR-1HL and a primary arms red dot I had laying around, shot it for the first time today and this thing is a tack driver...even with a 14.5in barrel. Plans are to upgrade the trigger to a Geissele SSA and either an Aimpoint T1 or Eotech XPS3 to top it off. Anyways, here is the pics (excuse the quality, couldn't get my Iphone to take the best pictures with the lighting):

| Been stopping by this site on & off for about a year, mostly when I wanted to read up/research rifle parts and always found great info. So figured its time to join the fun while I was on the search for some handgaurd info today in between X-mass stops. Mostly a pistol shooter but slowly getting pulled into these black rifles. |

Well, since I keep ending up here when googling for info I guess it's time to do this thing.
I'm more a Garand and big bore revolver guy than AR guy - frankly I never fired one I really liked. That said I figured I would take the plunge, partly because I want to know more about them, partly because I plan on owning 2 (one in 5.56/.223 and one in .308) before the next foolish ban hits, partly because there has *GOT* to be a way to make one I like - it's the LEGO set of firearms, after all. Anyway, I have picked up the matched lower/upper set below, and am the waitlist for a matched set just like it in one in .308/AR-10 (some kind of ATF foolishness going on) and picked up "a few" Anderson lowers to have, because reasons. My first build will be on one of the Andersons, as cheap as possible, as a "test case/training build". What I do with that is up for debate, maybe sell it, maybe give it to my daughter, maybe use it as a base system to play with various options and setups (I am intrigued by .458 SOCOM - much more my style...). A co-worker of mine is a big AR guy, I go to him with questions a lot. He will likely be my main source for info, but hey - who knows.

After years of lurking, I finally joined this past November. The wealth of information here and depth of knowledge of the members has meant that I've been able to do all the research I've wanted and find the answers to all my questions without posting a query (so far). As a noob, I also wanted to gain sufficient knowledge and research already-asked and -answered queries before posting my own (one of my frustrations as an admin/member of other sites). A bit about me:
Just as I have no personal interest in seeing folks post pics of their brand-new stock vehicles, I don't plan on posting any pictures of my stock AR.

Hi all, newbie starting here too. A friend and I built this Ar from some of his spare parts. New Knight's Armament 16" midlength barrel, and a bunch of Magpul goodies:
However, I would like to take some weight off the nose of the gun, perhaps change from the 12" YHM rail to a 10" rail? Any aluminum flash hiders out there for dropping weight?

New AR15 owner... finally was able to put the money towards it but I have shot them a bit over the years. 35 yrs old in Littleton CO (just SW of Denver)... and am a computer nerd. I offroad with my Jeep, work on cars and do all kinds of things in my spare time. Ive lurked here for quite some time soaking in information and finally registered. Bought her and kitted her up a bit the other night... Sig 400 with quad rail front handguard. Replaced the built in front sight with a Troy low profile gas block. Added on an EOTech 552 and G33 magnifier as well as some MBUS. An adjustable front grip and bipod as well. This weekend will be the first time to put some rounds through it! Looking forward to soaking in as much knowledge from you guys as I can and adding to my armory!

New member from Florida and new to the AR platform. Have started purchasing pieces for my build/pin job. My local FFL has an Anderson stripped lower I will be purchasing. I have ordered PSA's CTR lower build kit and 2 PMags for the build part of the project. After a nice tax return, I will order BCM's BFH 16" mid length LW receiver group with KMR handgaurd. Now I just need to decide on sites (MBUS vs other?) to make it fully functional.

Hello All. As with a lot of the posts here in this thread, I am a Long time lurker and first time poster. I appreciate all the knowledge fofounhere. Nothing fancy to talk about a regular CCMG AR . I do however have a LR 308 pattern lower that I am looking forward to building up as a 260 or 6.5Creedmoor.

As soon as I get my shipment next week I will share pictures with you guys. So I went with a BCM upper, Rock River Arms lower w/ a 2 stage NM trigger and MI gen 2 quad rail. I know some of you don't care much for quad rails but I like the look it gives the AR. Hopefully come next week I can share some pics. Thanks! Any recommendations on a red dot sight? |

Spend a week or two reading in this Forum It may give you a better idea of the options available, and which ones may meet your needs. |

| New guy here from NM. I just placed an order from PSA two days ago. I was on the fence between a Mini 14 and an AR. I was leaning toward the Mini 14 for a long time because my dad had one briefly when I was a kid and I liked it. Finally, my practical side kicked in and I realized how much more I can get for the money. I ordered the PSA 16" M4 MOE Rifle kit, a PSA Lower, the PSA Flip up rear sight, 3- 30 round Magpul magazines, and 200 rounds of .223 for the same money it would have cost to get a Mini 14 with a single 10 rd. magazine. That was an easy decision. Looking forward to getting my AR, putting it together, and sending some rounds down range! |
