Does anyone have a pic of a 16" barreled spikes upper with the specter length rail and the sd-1 8.5" can? I am trying to decide between the carbine length or specter length rail, but I know for sure I wan the 8.5" can. Any input or pics would be great.

Did you custom order that configuration or is it a standard option? Love the look of the 10 1/2" type rifles.

Thats an 11.5" barrel, we have plenty of them Instock.

Will I be able to put my Gemtech Outback II on it without using any spacers? I see it has a crush washer and I would definately like to use it with my suppressor.

Yup your Outback II will go right on there.

Okay I have to ask. Is the thread length .438" (or something like that) or .600" (or something like that?
I was talking to my friend(who is fairly new to AR-15's) and we got into a discussion about the thread length. I told him the Outback II would work because of what I was told here. And he seems to think that the threads are most likely the .600" length due to the crush washers shown on the .22lr uppers.

So anyone here know for sure what length the threads are on the 11 1/2" M4 .22lr uppers is?
Thanks.

The threads are standard for AR .600.  I picked up a .20 Spacer made by 1928A1 to use when mounting a can.

Its a Spikes Dedicated 22LR Lower, with Spikes installed lower parts kit, color fill, Ergo Grip, Magpul UBR stock, and Rock river arms star ambi safety.
The upper has YHM flip front and rear sights, a YHM spector length (standard weight) handguards, spikes vertical grip, and Spikes Fake SD Can.

I was wrong our threads are around .600, I didnt realize the female threads on the Outback II were short. No Problem though anyone running an Outback II just let us know while placing your order and we will cut the spefic thread length required for the can.

-Tom

Will there be an extra charge for this service? How much more would it be on the standard 11.5"
I think Gemtech states .400" (4/10 inch) maximum thread length.

Looks like he's using ARMS QD rings.

He's right, they are ARMS 30mm rings with the 1" spacers.  Probably not the best set up but I had them laying around and they were the correct height and I was eager to get a scope on it.

Barrel is 10" with the Specter length rail.

Went up north MI shooting, put more then 2200 rnds of federal through it and only TWO failures, amazing. After about 400 rnds of federal i briefly tried 100 rnds of winchester wild cats and I had between 2-6 failsures every mag full... I jumped RIGHT back to Federal. Put 200 rounds of federal 50g hollow point .223s through it also and 0 failsures. Federal owns.

I really wanted a .22lr AR but I didn't want to spend $700+.  I bought a Romanian WASR-22 instead ($250) and it has been great.  Shown with prototype 30 round BDM WASR-22 mag with bolt hold open follower.

let me know If I can help you get that thing running.

Thank you.

A machinist/gunsmith friend is about to get it straightened out.  Lakeside springs, ball-detent mod, BDM firing pin, extractor and with a borrowed bounce-weight, it does run great.  13 straight mag dumps recently with maybe 1 or 2 FTE.  Last thing to do is repair the damaged weight.

Tip for those with bounce-weight problems:
Mine was butter soft.  The tab on the spring-guide pounded up the edge on the weight, creating a ramp.  I filed down the hump on the top of the weight to restore it to its original curvature.

In hindsight, this was a mistake - made it easier for the weight to lodge under the spring-guide and lock everything up tight.  Point is, if your weight gets a bump on the top of it, just leave it alone as long as the weight will still travel between the rails and the spring-guide.

eta:  The hardened quality of the steel in the Spike's kit provides a definite advantage over the soft metal in a Ciener kit.
