It is kind of a modified A2 with a trap door storage. It has more of swell to it vs the standard A2. I like it better. You can see a side by side even though they are on top of each other  in the picture. A2 on the airsoft on bottom.

It's not tacticool, but it's probably my favorite rifle to shoot. Likely my cheapest as well. Bushmaster tax time upper from about 3 or 4 years ago. The front sight was installed a bit canted according to my gunsmith and can't be fixed because the holes were drilled not straight. But it still zeros, although with a lot of windage adjustment. The lower is an older POF billet lower that had a few dings on it and is my "beater".

I would argue that the use of a handstop under most circumstances are utilzed a little differently. Here are some exapmles: One Two Three Four Five All of these are being used in a different way than image I was referring to. I would argue that the design of most handstops have a curved part and a flat part, the curved part being where the hand is doing the "stopping" and are designed as such for comfort. Obviously the Grip side on the LT handstops are where hands are designed to stop. The images I used before show this. But a handstop on the end of the 6 O'clock position on a handgaurd designed for the hand to stop from slipping passed the handgaurd and toward the muzzle; I would argue in most circumstances are positioned differently than the image I was originally referring to. The Image I referred to does not accomplish what the HKmp5K is doing, or other set ups like THIS If anything, I would argue that the set up I referred to would aid the hand in slipping off more than if it was turned around. I am in no way criticizing the ops use of the thing. I am quite aware that people shoot there firearms differently in terms of what works for them. If the LT stop works that way for the op and helps him utilize the "stopping" function of the handstop better by positioning it that way; by all means have at it. I just cant picture a hand up against the backside of the LT stop helping much in the "stopping" function of it. |

I posted the picture of the MP5k to show that I use it as a hand stop, and not as a control device like the LaRue picture you posted. Based on your comment that you can't picture it being good at being a hand stop, I assume you've not handled one or seen one in person. I can tell you it does a pretty decent job despite the "curved" look you see in the pictures. It doubles as a good index point when using the "thumb break" grip as well. But what do I know, it appears you've done your research and since you're so adamant about making sure I know how hand stops work and that mine is backwards, then you win. I submit, my hand stop is backwards

 Top is my DPMS lite 16. I put an MI rail on it for the light and grip. Middle is my Colt 6700 competition target. Grate rifle, very accurate when I do my part. Bottom is my M16A4ish clone. It has an Arfcom lower, Stag LPK, Stag stock, BCM upper and BCG. KAC RAS and Colt rear sight. I might put an ACOG on it, but right now I shoot it very well with the irons so I might leave it this way. |
