Why? Set the barrel down on short carpeting or a rug, smack the pins out with a punch and hammer. (You want to hit the smaller ends of the taper pins to drive them out.) Easy peasy. Done it umpteen times

I don’t think we’ll be seeing those NIW and if you do they’ll be second hand for a steep price or you’ll get lucky if someone is willing to strip a complete upper build for you.

I went ahead and grabbed a C Marked Square forge from Chris a couple weeks ago for the second build. Waiting on a barrel to get back from pinning then we shall see...

Photos will be inbound gentleman...

A little behind on this. Was on wait list for Colt FBI HBAR. Then had to send it off to Nefarious Arms and had to wait again. I got most of the stuff for it now. Going to have the barrel cerakoted locally. Almost there.

Thanks. I think you will be happy with it. My barrel turned out great. I wasn't sure about having him do dimples in front of the gas block or not. I went back and forth. Decided to go for it. I am happy I did. It would look off if it wasn't done in front of the gas block.

So true, mostly because there so little information on the ACTUAL rifles that the FBI HRT is running that’s it’s hard to say what’s “correct”
Didn’t someone say that the SWAT guys do pretty much whatever anyway?
No idea what HRT actually uses.

I do know the regular agent and SWAT guns use a standard profile 11.5” barrel, not the so called “HRT” barrel.

Regular Agents get the same 11.5” Colt carbine as the SWAT Agents but with. Black G rail instead of the ODG and in semi auto only. The regular Agents carbines have Troy sights, the inforce 400 lumen WML Magpul CTR stocks, Viking Tactics slings with QDs and the option for. weird Israeli / MAKO defense knock off of the Magpul AFG.  The only other option the agent has is whether they want their WML at 9, 12, or 3 o’clock. Optics are eithe the H2 on a DD Mount or a Romeo 4M - you get what you get. There is an option for a personal purchase 16” 6920 with an old school 11”Troy alpha rail.  The authorized optics and accessories for the personal purchase carbines are the same as the issued 11.5”

Regional SWAT has more latitude with some things like lights, slings, sticks etc in most places but it will vary office to office. Normally bolt on type stuff. Each office has a Primary Firearms guy and a SWAT lead who have input on that.  So office A may let guys swap out slings, lights etc while office B has a leader who came from a “You see one spartan, you see them all” back ground in the military.  The ODG SWAT guns are full auto lowers though some have semi auto Geissele triggers.

All the guns are built (or re-built) in batches so may come with A2, hogue or Ergo Pistol grips. It depends on what is on hand when they are built.

Thanks brother. Marvin did a fantastic job on the barrel. I am very happy with the results. I dropped off my barrel. Hope to get it back either Sunday or Monday. I think it should turn out nicely.

So I’ve got a 2011 vintage RRA carbine with a heavy-ass 16” carbine barrel. I’ve been wanting to overhaul it and modernize it, and in parallel I’ve got this FBI build on the docket. Would that be an appropriate base rifle for this build?

I’m thinking turn down the barrel and chop it, swap the stock to a sopmod and I’m functionally there. Only thing that would be off is the commercials RRA rollmarks.

I am trying to be clone correct on this one, as my last two clone attempts went off the rails, so if this would be too far off base I can still build it from scratch.

The RRA would be a match seeing as the FBI had RRA Rifles at one point in time, idk if they modernized those Carbines though in the 11.5” platform.. Most of the Lowers have been M4 Lowers with HRT FSP Uppers that were later either chopped then had the Troy Rail installed and then again later the HRT rail or had a G Block installed along with the HRT Rail...

After further review, my barrel is the wrong twist rate and I'm not sure if it's chrome lined, and getting all the work done on it will cost almost as much as a Colt barrel anyway. Was worth a thought.

Do it! I was going to go completely correct but it started with the front sight, from there I had to make it a safe queen....

It’s shoots so nice with the MAMS too..

I built a second upper that I intended to be the shooter but I kinda want to throw a DBAL A3 on this one to complete it 100%. Then only thing missing will be the KAC QDC/CQB

Lower is about to get the paperwork put in for a stamp this week too

Looks good brother. Might I recommend to you what I did for mine. Run the narrower URX 3.1 rail panels instead of the fat one. The fat one has too much overhang. I personally think you might be happier with the narrower one.

Thanks bro!

I tried the narrower ones, I ended up sticking with the larger only because they made the rail feel rounder.

I’m trying to modify the long rounded side panels  now. As you may already know, their a little too long and won’t clip in due to the mounting block of the MK4... so I’m taking a little off at a time... if I end up keeping my second HRT Upper it’ll be rocking those long panels and a URX Rail section with a KAC Broomstick

Finally weighed it. Naked it is now 1 pound 6 ounces. Barrel + shaved A2 gas block with carbine gas tube is 1 pound 8 ounces.

I did not weigh it stock before sending to Marvin Pitts. Anyone have a stock barrel weight for comparison?
