Thanks man. I heavily prefer the use of an enclosed emitter optic on a rifle. The T2s are light enough compared to the RMR where I feel like you'd be splitting hairs looking at weight. I like the illumination settings more, the glass is better, and the bigger window makes it easier for shooting while moving.

I also have a KAC battery cap that lets me keep a spare on my rifle in an easy to get to spot.

Either will work nicely but the only 12.5" I owned got sold quick as it was getting too close to a 14.5" to make sense (for me). I found myself either shooting the 10 and 11" rifles or taking the 14.5" recce when I wanted 500+ without big holds and a bullet moving at a jog.

When I think mini, I think 11"

So a 13.9 with 13 URX is a no go for a P&W? At least by adco? Didn't he say you can't get the tool in the gap to pin it? I'd be using a SF3P

Maybe I'll have to go with a different rail.

Criterion CORE 13.9” with 13” URX 4 and P&W SF3P. You will need either a stack of shims or a spacer to make the SF3P reach 16”, but you need that clearance anyway if you want to mount a suppressor like a SureFire that needs a little bit of extra space when the collar is unlocked. ADCO won’t do that combination anymore so you will have to go elsewhere.

Black River Tactical has pre-order right now for 11.5 and 12.5. I say 11.5 with a URX 4 or FF RAS. I'll post a pic of my 11.5/URX4 with NX8 in a badger mount, but its a dirty AR pistol.

I finally settled on an optic for the 13.7" mini recce.

Spoiler: Not an NX8. I know that's blasphemy in this thread, but I was missing the wide FOV and 1-6 clarity of my old Razor that @DontBuryMe is now entrusted with (and doing a fine job with it btw). All my LPVOs have a fairly narrow FOV and I didn't want to add another one with the NX8 without first having a great 1-6 on hand which, I have been lacking.

I went with the Kahles K16i SM1. The Kahles has an even wider FOV than the Razor. The Vortex had a more forgiving eye-box, but the Kahles edges out ahead in most other aspects besides weight; it blows the Vortex away in the weight dept.

The clarity and color are amazing. I watched some reviews that contained complaints about chromatic aberration at 6x and have concluded that their cameras were mounted just slightly below the centerline of the optic. If my eye is level with the center dot, there is zero chromatic aberration from min to max. Slight move of the head at 6x, yea, you'll see a purple outline on objects and it's easy to do, but nothing practice and repetition won't cure.

The illumination is plenty bright for day time use. I have astigmatism and the Razor's dot had a tendency to starburst. The Kahles reticle glows more than bursts, if that makes sense. The orange/red color really contrasts against natural elements. The reticle seems like it will be useful, but not distracting. I like it.

All buttoned up

I haven't written off the NX8. I still have a couple rifles that need scopes. I just wanted a good 1-6 first; You could argue that the K16i is the best 1-6. I'll try to sneak away and zero it on Veteran's Day and have range report for you guys.

ETA: The offset Aimpoint was just for an IG flex. It's back on the mini mod H with the S&B 1.5-8 where it's needed.

This will be dope. Adjustable gas on a suppressed 308 gasser is a must.

When I built my 308 gasser I hated the recoil impulse. Coming from bolt guns the double recoil impulse of a gassy 308 just wasn't fun.

Taming that would make it so much more enjoyable to shoot.

It must have been a minute since I've posted this on here.  The switchblock does make this a fantastic shooter.  Smooth and not much recoil...

@cdholmes I started out with a factory Noveske 16" switchblock rifle then SBR'd it and built the additional 12.5 upper in the photo above.  It comes stock with the Vltor A5 Receiver Extension.  I believe it has the a5h2 buffer but I am not 100% on which weight.  I will have to confirm.  I dont change the buffer set up between uppers and they are both extremely smooth recoiling suppressed or not.  I just wish 308 match ammo was cheaper

This was, briefly, my duty rifle but I decided to go back to my shorter 12.5in rifle for duty so converted this to a mini-recce build with a Leupold Mk6 CMR-W I recently scored.

ADM upper, lower, 13.5in rail
Hodge 14.5in barrel
BCM BCG
Geissele SSA-E trigger
Magpul CTR stock
Magpul MOE K2+

Leupold Mk6 CMR-w 5.56
Unity 1.93 mount
Modlite PLHv2 (will probably swap this to a OKW)
Dead Air Sandman K

Finally got this one to the range over Veterans day. Sorry it took so long to report back.

Very pleased with the 50 yard zeroing groups But seriously I put a few right on top of each other and I'm more than happy with that for now. I'll stretch its legs a little further over the holidays, maybe have a video to post.

Removed the offset T2 and put it back on the mini mod H. Installed the gripstop and have one of those limited run BFG desert digital slings inbound. I think it's done.

I have 4-5 finished mini recce uppers now so I probably won't be posting anything new in here for a long time. Couldn't be happier with what I've ended up with. A lot was inspired by this thread. Shifting my funds and focus from building uppers to ammo, supporting gear and range time/training.

I have a few questions about this setup of NX8 with piggy-backed RMR.  I've got the components inbound to duplicate this setup because I think I'll like it quite a lot.  In the past I've had an NX8 on a 14.5" gun and then run a TA11 with piggy-backed RMR on this 10.3:

Questions:
1.  In front of turret vs behind turret?  I like the idea of behind turret because it seems that getting the RMR closer to your eye would enlarge your perception of it and FOV
2.  NX8 on 1X vs RMR: Which do you use and when?  In my previous experience, the 1X on the NX8 was pretty good, but still had some fisheye.  For extreme close stuff (in the house for instance) maybe the RMR is better?  I know a lot of guys use the RMR for NVG's, but I don't have those.
3.  Backup sights.  Do you feel confident in the NX8's durability to be used without the need for backup sights?  My Reptilia mount is not QD, so if I ran backup irons, they'd need to be offset.  I've had them in the past and didn't care for them.  I suppose in a way the RMR is a backup sight, but it'd probably break before the NX8, yeah?
