I think @Tamboi and I concluded that there was definitely some bleed-over and other changes between catalog years, so a 2005 M2/2.5-8 isn't insane since that's laaaate 2005.

You think that's nuts, it was ridiculous trying to chase down when Leupold had the 12 o'clock illumination turrets and then the offset ones on the 2000 and 2001 Vari-X III from the early SPRs. Even Leupold didn't have anything helpful.

Do you have the serial number with date prefix/suffix letter?
@lancecriminal 516569V
@stoner63a   V is a 2010 date code Per Leupold's FAQ

Did he write the date backwards? Is it January 5, 2011 ?

If it has the rounded illumination housing and not the slab-sided, I'd pick it up but definitely not for a premium. Would be fine for anything but an early SPR.

Gah, I keep getting accidental page ownage. So here's what might be an early SPR I ran across on IG a few weeks back. Hasn't been posted in here yet as far as I know.

I miss my Atlas.  No matter how tight I get the podlock for the Harris, it still has some cant in it.  Never had that problem with the Atlas. It's a beast.

I've been looking at parts to start building an MK12 style rifle. I came across Ballistic Advantage's Mk12 barrel. Does anyone have any experience with this barrel? Trying to figure out if it will perform as well as a White Oaks

I was the opposite. I cranked on the knob to lock the V8 Atlas. Put some weight to preload bipod and I'd feel the ball shift. I also hated the rotating legs. I replaced it with a Harris bipod.

I've been wanting to try the PSR model, but I need money for other things.

Agreed, spent the money for an atlas and was not impressed. For my money, I was more impressed with a Harris S-BRM/ARMS #32/Pod-Loc combo.

I have yet to try a KAC or Sierra bipod due to cost, but have played with a few others. Harris is still the go-to IMO.

Does anyone recall the pieces needed to make a TAS-1 into a TAS-1 UMSS?
I recall there was another webbing piece that needed to be added to connect the hk hook to the mikes swivel stud on the hand guard.

Nice rifle! I am building same rifle (Mod 1) with Sopmod stock and Nightforce NXS 2.5-10X24.  I wanted to know which NighForce rings you are using (stock or P/N) and what "height" as well as what top-cap that is and for what RDS.  Thank you.

Just got back from prairie dog shooting for a week. Went through a bunch of ammo and racked up a ton of confirmed kills. All said, over the week, I shot close to 2k 17hmr, 480 69 TMK handloads, another 500 mk262 BH, and around 750 AE 55 vmax.

Longest confirmed kill was 535 yards in 5-7mph wind. Caught a raven looking the other way, and gave it the business end of a 69 TMK. Thanks StrelokPro.

Split my time between the spr, block 2, and cz 455 precision trainer.

Stopped at an old pioneer home to shoot these pics on the 140 year old stacked rock foundation.

The early 2000's sling stud mount was also different.  It came in a sealed plastic bag rather than a box and used a socket cap screw instead of a flat-head screw.  It was likely changed to reduce over-torquing damage by the end-user.

You have been hanging out in this thread way too long to think any Mk12 uses a LaRue rail.

KAC for the Mod 1, PRI for the 0 and H.

The mod 1 uses the KAC FF RAS long, which I believe is a 12"

Meh, I never had my eyes on the spec sheet and for some reason I mixed the KAC rails up with a Larue rail.  Does Larue make one with a similar shaped nut?  Probably not.  But for some reason I thought they had one that looked the same.  My DD Rail looks very close to the KAC ones but the nut looks a little different.

But you're right.  I probably should've been more versed in these rails a long time ago.  I just never really cared because I wasn't in the market for one.  My recce is all I needed.

Now I want to build a 16" govt' middy with some kind of reasonably priced FF rail and have it be my poor mans URG-I.....  Get one of them Troy rails for cheap.    My buddy just said he picked up a Larue 13.2 for a reasonable price and I was trying to tell him what kind of build to do.  I sent him the two pics I have of the MSTN recce's.....

They do make one that looks similar, could pass for it if you weren't keen to what you were looking for.
