Hi all, I just picked up a 16" psa carbine m-4 style upper for my magpul edition psa lower, both were on sale last weekend. It does not have a rear iron sight but it does have the A2 front post  I wonder what a good rear iron sight costs these days? I'm having trouble even finding one to look at FYI  I also have a Crimson Trace CTS-1525 that I picked up on discount a while back, I wonder is there any way to mount it on my upper with that front post up there? I also have a number of old deer rifle hunting scopes 3-9×40 nothing to write home about. Any advice on good inexpensive ways to mount those to my setup? Thanks, I haven't been into guns in a while so it's like I'm out of practice here. lol |

Using what you have will be kinda sub optimal because of that fsp, but Arisaka makes an offset mount for your red dot, and Warne has a mount that should work well with an old 1" deer scope. Although my recomendation is to just buy a romeo5 magnifier combo if you are on a modest budget. If you just want to get functional with an Iron sight on the cheap, here is a good buy on a KAC. |

I like having a Red Dot Sight with a fold down rear sight on my AR-15’s with fixed front sight. You can use the pistol size red dot you already have if you can get a Picatinney adapter then use a riser. The pistol red dot sight probably wouldn’t be as durable as a larger Red Dot sight normal seen on AR-15 carbines. I have used 3-9x40 optics with an AR-15 style mount and even on three power you rarely see the front sight in the scope tube. If there is a shadow of the front sight visible in the scope tube I never found it distracting. About any 1” or 30 mm cantilever AR-15 mount will work on your AR-15. If you use a quick release mount the back up fold down rear sight might fit under the ocular lens of your scope. I am using a front sight mount with a rail to attach a Meprolight Poly Tac light in a 1” scope ring mount. This makes for a versatile carbine without spending a lot of money.  |

Ahh thanks 😊 that is what I was wondering. Now I wonder if the cantilever mount is realy necessary or will regular rings work? Like maybe the ones with six screws holding the rings together? Also I noticed bass pro has a 1-6x24 scope for about $80 dollars with the cantilever mount. Has anyone tried it? Is it for center fire guns? Almost has to be plastic for that price right? |

Ahh thanks, what about the firefield Rapid strike 1-6x24? It's about $100 more but if the reticle is like the picture Google finally caughed up I think it will be great. One thing I don't know is what the reticle looks like on the pursuit. That's a big selling point on scopes for me. |
| I think you'd be best to save up for a Primary Arms SLX 1-6x Nova. It's more used and known quantity. |

Well fellas I was looking hard at Firefield which palmetto had on sale ( still is) but I went with the Pursuit 1-4x24 because it came with a mount and was $100 cheaper. After waiting only a few days for it arrived 🙌 😀 So I threw it on my carbine and took it out to rattle off some cartridges. It seems just fine🙂 👍 pretty sure it's going to hold zero just as soon as I get some lock tite. It does have the doughnut red dot w/ BDC tree no cross hairs reticle. That's what I was really worried about. P.S. how do you guys stick a Pic in these posts? I click the picture icon and it wants a url, what gives? Uuhhhhggg |

You have to be a paying member to directly upload pictures to this web site. I use photo hosting sight Flickr but Imgur and postit are also commonly used. With a photo hosting sight the picture has a direct link to the photo hosting sight where your photos are saved. With Flickr you cut and paste the BBC code into your narrative. With the hot link active the photo appears in the narrative of your reply. I use the free version of Flickr but you are limited on the number of photos saved on their web site. |
