| Anyone have any function and accuarcy reviews for the psa uppers? They have a 20" and 18" complete uppers on sale. |
  
At the local indoor range, I was able to shoot a couple of 35 yard one hole three shot groups on my lunch break today. The adjustable gas block seemed to be set right with a standard carbine buffer allowing the bolt to lock open after the last round. The H2 buffer I started off with was a little too heavy to allow bolt to reliably lock open, but with a 20" barrel and rifle length gas port, I expected as much. It still ejected out empties and chambered new rounds with the H2 buffer but the standard weight buffer is just about right. The quality looks fantastic. I only got to fire a dozen or so rounds today but I was very happy with it. It's currently mounted on my PSA lower with a Geissele SSA. I added my Primary Arms 1-4 to rough check the accuracy. It looks super promising. I will be taking it to the outdoor range next week. ETA: E-lander 10 round mags functioned perfectly. |
| The PSA ad states 6.5 Grendel Type II. The Type II refers to .136 bolt face Depth 6.5 Grendel bolt. Black Hole Weaponry sold 264 LBC barrels chambered to use .125 bolt face depth 7.62x39 bolt which they designated as Type I. BHW also chambered 264 LBC barrels chambered to use 6.5 Grendel bolts with .136 bolt face depth. BHW weaponry designated 6.5 Grendel bolts as Type II and why PSA says Type II in their ad listing. The Type II does not refer the chamber. To use the 6.5 Grendel name the barrel should be chambered using a SAAMI Spec 6.5 Grendel reamer. |

I'm about to put a red dot on my 5.56 PSA build but after that I know what I'm saving up towards LOL. AR-15s really are an addiction, huh? I find it fascinating that you can switch out uppers and essentially change your entire kit to for your "mission." #justnoobthings

I’ve been watching this thread for some time. I too was torn between the 20” and 18” barrel. I ordered the 20” and found it to be a little nose heavy and unwieldy but accurate. Everything worked perfectly. Not wanting to make up some story and rerun it, I took it to a gunsmith and had 2” cut off the barrel, re-crowned and threaded. $75. I had my first opportunity to shoot it today and WOW! Sub MOA groups (10 shot strings) at 100 yds using Wolf 100gr FMJs. The Hornady ELD-M (123gr) weren’t quite as good but darn close and it may have been just me. It has a 3.5lb RA140 trigger and using a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 (not a precision scope). I’m profoundly pleased with this rifle. At under 7lbs loaded, this could be an amazing antelope gun. Pics coming. |
