Hmmm this looks like what I need

Barrel Light Mount?

PS Also would like to hear how it's holding out for you!

I bought the 1/4" tall rail (YHM) from Primary arms and a cheap ebay micro aluminum gas block (6061). Its holding up well for now. I'll post pics tomorrow of it all painted to match. I may dimple and/or send it to get pinned.

I also though about using a railed gas block, but almost all cheap gas blocks are "rail" height. Mounting a tlr-1 at rail height will block your field of view significantly!. This mount drops the light down almost a full inch closer to the barrel.
You could use this onedouble rail GB and cut or mill the top (gas tube) rail off and use the bottom as the top. If I had it to do again I'd get a clamp on gas block that cross bolts instead of using set screws.

That is pretty fukkin' slick.

Slippers, what's your take on Keymod vs Mlok?

For the most part, I don't pick a rail system based on the interface. The Geissele SMR is awesome, but so is the BCM KMR, Noveske NSR, etc. I'd say I like each interface equally, and I am fairly hard on my rifles. All the nonsense about one or the other loosening up is ridiculous. M-Lok can probably withstand more force, but at what point does the rail itself start to deform. The one thing I don't like about M-Lok is that it protrudes further into the inside of the handguard, whereas KeyMod, especially with parts based on BCM's inverted screw/nut combo, are nearly flush.

Pic thread: comparison shot of our single cell and dual cell light bodies on our inline scout mounts, on a BCM KMR.

That 300 looks fantastic with the inline keymod mount. Do you have a weight for that complete light + mount + batteries setup with either the Arisaka body or the Surefire body?

300 series light body, malkoff e1/scout head, z68 tail cap, battery, inline scout mount, and all screws/keymod nuts weighs 3.4 oz. The weight with a surefire KE1A head instead of Malkoff head is 0.4 oz more.

TLR-1 is now my standard pistol and rifle light.
All of my and my kids pistols/holsters and rifles/rails have a place for the TLR1
Tough ,bright and affordable.
It stays out of the way when the rifle is slung, and can be actuated with thumb when hand is on fore grip.

It couldn't be much more low profile.  The screw head on the MBUS Pro touches the mount ever so slightly.  I considered grinding a half millimeter off the mount but I don't think it affects anything.  The mount is locked down tight as is the sight.

I wanted something that would allow me to mount a sling unobstructed under the light so it was between this and the Arisaka.  I opted to save a few bucks and I'm happy with it.
