Hey, Primary Arms - continuing off of the SLX 1x microprism thread here. Any news on that 3x, even a rough ballpark timeline? I'd love to see a worthwhile ~$300 ACOG competitor that actually looks the part.

They do have their Gen 3 of the 3x prism optic.

Anyone have input on those?

I’m not sure on this but primary arms could be holding off on releasing the 3x micro prism because they still have the SLX 3x gen 3 in 5.56 still on preorder. They probably don’t want the two competing at the same time. I myself am holding out for the micro 3x

Vortex beat them to the punch.

I honestly wonder if they're using the same OEM supplier. I guess we'll see if the 3x also has 1 MOA adjustments like the Spitfire.

Aside from the reticle, the Vortex has HD glass but non daylight bright illumination. Last I saw PA said they were going to have daylight bright illumination in their’s.

I’m personally more interested in a 5X with an offset MRDS, not top mounted. My old PA 5X lost a ton of optical clarity at about 250 yards, so I’m REALLY hoping they improve the glass like Vortex did.

So Burris was wise enough to sell it with a cantilever mount ?

I hope everyone else takes notes

Burris mount isn't removable/replaceable though.  The mount and optic are all one piece.  I don't understand that at all.

If they try really hard they might be able to squeeze a bigger logo on it.

The GLX 3x is $369. That's not far off your ~$300 and the quality over the Slx line is considerable.

Lmao no.  That thing is 15 and a half ounces.

The Burris, Vortex and Primary Arms are only ~8 ounces with mount and battery.  Not even in the same class.

I know specifications are subject to change but the 2021 New Product Catalog from PA shows the 3x as 0.25 MOA click value.  I guess we'll know for sure in a few months.

I was more thinking the expanded FOV and reticle/color choices rather than the mini/micro thing. I guess that's where the tradeoff is in size.

I was looking at the Trihawk but that thing sits way too high for my liking.
Vortex looks nice, but IIRC the battery life was something small like 150 hours... Sure it has an auto off but I dunno man.. Eww.

So which is is?  A prism, or a red dot?

The RT-1 also looks to be a red dot with no indication of a prism.  I are confused.

The RT-3 is a prism sight with an etched reticle.

I don't know about the RT-1 never had one of those, but looks like it's just a red dot.

Even optics planet has it listed as a 3x red dot,  no where does it say prism,  but its got the etched reticle..  Idk if someone at burris screwed up the mkting or what,  but it doesnt lend itself to confidence in the product...

It's a prism sight, I own one.  There's no mystery about it.

But like I said earlier, the built-in non-removeable mount is what I hate about it and why it ended up on a Sig 522 instead of something centerfire.

I don't know why they didn't design it with a removable Aimpont or ACOG pattern mount.  It really makes no sense.  It's a fantastic sight otherwise.

Also interested in the glass quality. Right now that seems to be the advantage to the vortex

I don’t really care about box test though, once it’s sighted in I wouldn’t be touching it. I’m more interested in glass quality, daylight bright, etc

If it was a GLX i would Get one but a SLX I’ll stick with a better prism like Steiner and Trijicon.

I am going to buy a few 2x GLX for the better half and I .

I own one too, and I agree, the fixed mount takes away from what is otherwise a great sight.  I have to get my head down low to get a good sight picture on it.  I'm debating whether to keep it or sell it.

PA says there is no glass quality upgrade.

So with the Vortex you get better glass and mount options, with the PA you get daylight brightness. Kind of a shame we can’t get all at once but nothing is free in this world.

Man these prices kill it for me. I want one to replace a 403B. That's all the real estate on this one so it has to be micro for me, but $400+? No thanks. Was hoping for sub $200 or close
